We have a Toshiba 50L2200U TV. It is new even though it's 5 years old - it's been in the box until today. The power light comes on but the screen is black. There are no back lights showing either.

SOURCE: Black Screen after 5 mins. of use

It sounds like the entire screen goes blank with your problem. My problem is the lower half of the screen goes blank. Do you think the SSB is also the problem? What are your thoughts about the "Video Board" or the X Board?

Do you know where to purchase parts?

SOURCE: Black Box

You have inadvertently activated one of the closed-caption modes called T1 or Text 1. Find out how to turn the closed-captioning off and on and you'll be able to turn this off.

Toshiba 50L2200U Won't Turn On

There could be an issue here with both the power supply and also an internal problem as well with your TV. The outlet that your TV is plugged into could be the issue here then.

Toshiba TV model 50HPX95 does't Boot and the screen only shows the message Booting... . Anybody knows if it is worth paying to fix it?

worth , is personal thing, but boils down to.
what is the cost in shop to fix it, (not cheap)
against a new TV or used,
only you can can answer any question of economics.
you posted TV to computers, and TVs are not. that.
this TV is 13 years old today,
does the TV part work, at all , even on antenna?
That TV has lots of features, do any work at all?
the home screen is dead, (booting is the clue)
so sounds like to me power supply issue inside, making the brain inside dead or its memory banks.
my guess is used, dead, 13 year old TV is only worth $100
for parts.
and tad more working,
I'd upgrade,

Tv does not turn on

If green light flashes more than 8 times, it could be as simple as repairing or replacing the power supply. Unplug the TV ,remove the back. Look for bulged or leaking capacitors on the power supply. Do it yourselfer? only if you have soldering skills, or purchase replacement board. remember, used boards are just as old as your failed board, buy new or rebuilt, Good Luck

TV won't turn on

How old is this TV?
My experiance is to not put money into a TV that is over ten years old. TVs stress out their electronic components worse than almost any other electronic product. After 10 years, there are so many parts that are ready to fail that your are probably wasting your money trying to get any more life out of it.
Another option is to wholesale replace the main board by sending it to Module Exchange at 972-298-1212, or PTS Electronics 800-844-7871 ptscorp.com.
Be careful on buying a new one though. Often times, these new technology ones are much worse. Always Google the model number of the set you intend to buy and add the word 'repair' or 'complaint' to see if it is one of the many models that are customer service nightmares being produced by even the most reputable companies today.
Hope ya fix it!
