Hello Carol Eastley,

Sharing your MAKE and MODEL number with

ELSE ...
you could look up your refrigerator on

Just a thought

I cannot find your DAEWOO "American"... Sorry! (in the San Francisco Bay Area).

Please repost w/ make & model. A better volunteer can step up (apologies).

I suspect your water lines have been crossed (but I'd have to be there to get it sorted).

SOURCE: Bad water & ice cube taste

Hello redwood City
Welcome

You said,
Your Kitchenaid Superba KSRG25FKBL15 has bad tasting water and ice cubes. You replaced the copper tubing which delivers the water to the fridge and that didn't help. You replaced the copper tubing again with plastic tubing...no better. Any suggestions? Your tap water doesn't taste this bad.You bought a Kenmore french door fridge with water dispenser in the door in July 2008. The fridge has a filter. A few weeks after the fridge came the water and ice started tasting really bad, unlike any bad water taste I have ever tasted. And your tap water is fine. The bad taste appears to be random. Sometimes you get a cup full of nasty water and sometimes it tastes fine.

First you must know you have a 1 year warranty and can have them come out to fix anything, no charge. If it persists. You will have to get tough and you , MUST INSIST THEY REPLACE YOUR FRIDGE

When installing the water line these were a part of the directions!
Did you do this before connecting the water line to your fridge?
"Place the free end of the tubing in a container or sink, and
turn ON the main water supply. Flush the tubing until water is
clear. Turn OFF the shutoff valve on the water pipe. Coil the
copper tubing."

Whirlpool remedy
Off-taste, odor or gray color in the ice
1.Are the plumbing connections new, causing discolored or
off-flavored ice? Discard the first few batches of ice.
2.Have the ice cubes been stored too long? Throw old ice
away and make a new supply.
3.Does the freezer and ice storage bin need to be cleaned?
See “Cleaning” or “Ice Maker and Storage Bin.”
4.Has food in the freezer or refrigerator been wrapped
properly? Use airtight, moisture-proof packaging to help
prevent odor transfer to stored food.
5.Does the water contain minerals (such as sulfur)? A filter
may need to be installed to remove the minerals.
6. Is there a water filter installed on the refrigerator? Gray or
dark discoloration in ice indicates that the water filtration
system needs additional flushing. Run additional water
through the water dispenser to flush the water filtration
system more thoroughly (at least 2 to 3 gal. [8 to 12 L] or 6 to
7 minutes initially). Discard discolored ice.

Let me know what works,
Thank You ,

SOURCE: the refrigerator icemaker does not make ice.

you have to hold in the ice type and the childlock button for about 6 seconds and that will take the filter light off. To reset the ice maker open the freezer door and then pull out the ice bin. on the bottom of the ice maker theres a button that you have to hold in to reset the ice maker. Good luck and thanks for using FixYa

SOURCE: water dispenser on front of refrigerator door does not dispense water. Ice Cube maker continues to make ice cubes. Defrosting doesn't fix problem.

Water dispensing solenoid is bad. You need to replace the solenoid valve. This typically is independent of the ice maker.

No water in automatic ice maker, therefore no ice cubes.

Do you get water at the front dispensor, if present? If not check the refrigerator water filter. If you have an RO system feeding filtered water to the fridge, check it's filter. Also there is a solenoid that lets water into the ice cube maker, have a professional check it to make sure its working correctly. Lastly I have had to replace the entire ice cube maker, sometimes they do fail. Replacements can be found fairly easy on the internet.

Water filter question

WOW! I'd say that the filter is definately due for replacement.

The manufacturer recommends the filter be changed every 6-8 months, as with ice and water dispensers in the door, folks tend to use the chilled water and ice more often, hence you get alot of gallons of water thru the fridge each month.

Once you replace the filter, you'll need to flush out the lines, (see the instructions with the new filter) to get rid of any loose carbon in the filter element, but once you done this, you should also notice better water flow and better tasting water and ice cubes too.

I tend to change my ice/water filter on my fridge every year when I change my smoke detector batteries. That way, I don't forget, sort of like my personal "once-a-year" house task list to change batteries, filters, resetting timers, etc., etc.

It's a good idea to change these smaller filters at a minimum of once a year, as they are no longer providing the filtration you want, and can actually be letting some of the contaminents fow out and into your water and cubes.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

How do i get clean ice cubes from frigidare?

In order to get as clean an ice cube as possible, it all depends on the quality of the water that goes into the ice maker. If you have a water softener, your cubes will always be a bit cloudy, since the added salt slows down the freezing slightly and thus the cubes get cloudy.

That said, there are a few things you can do to improve your water. Adding a whole house water filter with a sediment charcoal filter, will remove the impurities and help to improve the overall taste. Then add an inline charcoal filter on the water line into the fridge. That will filter your water a bit more and help further improve the clarity and taste of the cubes.

Beyond that, you might want to look into a reverse osmosis system to really get the best possible tasting water you can.

The old adage of "garbage in, garbage out" is a good analagy for water quality issues, so you need to figure out what's in your water in order to take the steps to treat your water for the best possible results.

I recall that Sears offers free water testing (to help sell water softeners) so that's an option, as well as getting a home water test you can perform yourself.

Hope that helps you with your situation. Best regards!

Bad water & ice cube taste

then change your filter. the new filter could be different with the old filter. check the new filter, see if there is odor removal and taste removal with it.

if not then get the filter with carbon filter, odor and taste removal.

then with a new filter, run about 5 gallons of water before using the water for drinking.

Ice maker not working

is there a filter on the water line? if so check and replace as neccesary-usually all water going into a fridge ice maker is filtered if it was installed properly for fresh tasting ice......if not there usually is a valve where the water line connects to one of your houses water line ....be careful with that but make sure it is all the way open......maybe try cleaning or replacing the lines if it comes down to it. let me know what happens.

Admiral Refrigerator makes hollow ice

Hollow ice cubes are due to low water pressure to the fridge. Water thru the door should have good pressure behind it. This is a good indicator of water pressure. Should be able to fill a glass quickly. Causes for low pressure are self-piercing saddle valves on the water line (switch to drill type (1/4") valve) or reverse osmosis system or filtering system on water line to the fridge. R.O. systems should not be used. Increase water pressure and that will fix the hollow cubes. The loud noise may be the sound of the water valve on the fridge when it is acivated. This sound is normal and some are louder than others.
