SOURCE: Marvel 6RFI MA runs but very hot inside

Hi,

Its possible you have a system leak and this will cause you heated compartment. The unit will need to be tested for freon level to confirm. I hope this helped you.

My GE Profile Spacemaker XL(JVM1350BW 002) starts a loud buzzing noise 3-5 seconds after started and is not heating food. Any thoughts or is it dead?

Hello Scott MacAskill,

I would say it is only dead if you want it to be...

BIG noise is USUALLY a bad transformer... Sadly your is about $200 USD... so EASTER egg trouble shooting could be COST PROHIBATIVE.

SERVICE manuals begin at $9.95...

Youtube is generally full of WILDER GUESSES than mine...
Try the on-line support from SEARS...
Just check your prices before buying anything from them...
(my opinion... after getting personal shafted by the 3 TIMES).

Parts are available...
(must be a nice unit.. pretty $$$$ parts)...
I have my own nemesis... a MARVEL 6RFI refrigerator...

My wife loved it for 20 years...
Then it needed serious servicing...

Every MARVEL part I try to buy is marked up $150 just for the name... I find the exact parts & have my Supco Fan for $22 instead of the $172 for a MARVEL fan...

GE is highly serviceable & popular...

If you are willing to put in the time... Newer appliances are just
not quite as good...

They are practically tin-foil (with no added features)...

Your choice... Sadly my wife only tolerates my FIXING ...
She would long ago put it on the trash heap
(ice maker, stainless steel & all)...

Alas (what have you got to lose by trying?)

Freestanding marvel ice maker leaks water. is there a universal water overflow pump valve that would stop the overflow of water

just a thought
if you have the room in the container, consider a water level control unit such as is used to cisterns
they are self contained units that are adjustable for the water level required and fit in a space of around 3" dia and about 12" high

Why does the power stay on to the water valve and the water overflows into the ice storage area on my Marvel ice machine.

i suspect ur inlet water valve coils have gone bad staying open and not shutting u can check it with a meter for ohms and for voltage

I have a Vuim180ss1 viking Ice maker. Its not getting voltage to the water valve. When water is poured into the tank it recirculates and freezes but not getting new water. I didnt see a float or a wir

This is a earlier marvel built unit. Co voltage to valve then look at the control . Ck your serial break. Cheaper to call marvel for part as Viking and marvel parted ways in 2010. Current units built by Scotsman . Viking range just purchased u line and that will be down the road for UC built products . Fyi

Ice maker makes hollow ice

Not enough water. Check water filter if you have one and replace. Check water inlet valve pull supply line off of water inlet valve and make sure the screen in the water valve is not stopped up. make sure water line is not kinked.

Marvel 6RFI, light on but unit won't run

Really...??

Second attempt Good thing I recon... I get pretty chatty (verbose).
(this IS the short story).

To me...
your primary focus should be on your DEFROST TIMER: Service #41004677 Marvel PN 42242037
(oddly: black in color... and expensive by a factor of at least 10.. from an identical FRIGIDAIRE timer in white (try 215846602 Defrost Timer).

Happily the MARVEL timer can be manually advanced...

Most of the time it directs all your power (besides he interior light) to your compressor... to generate Cold & Frost...

For small periods each day it switches off the compressor and energizes the defrost heater(s)... which are carefully controlled by defrost thermostats... typically not to exceed about 55° Fahrenheit

55° Fahrenheit... pretty tepid... and easy to miss
(compressor not powered).

If the inside is really HOT... the DEFOST THERMOSTAT is in a CLOSED failure state... (very unusual)... or your inside light is REMAINING on when the door is closed... That can generate an unbelievable amount of heat.

The DEFROST TIMER has a small ridged handle in the middle... which can be manually advanced... (carefully... those are LIVE electrical terminals... and can dispatch you with very little effort... from this veil of toil and sin... (kilt...dead!))

If you are real patient... you can put a small mark... or tape on it to see if it is turning... Yes... clockwise).

But first... your should look at it...
Make sure all the wires are appropriately seated on their respective terminals (4 in all).

Be safe... Be patient.

Big money can be saved by taking your pretty BLACK MARVEL to your parts purveyor... and settling for a more reliable, robust and way way cheaper FRIGIDAIRE DEFROST TIMER.

The typical schematic of your MARVEL shows your terminals.

Always
Always take pictures BEFORE disconnecting wires!!

Power can be directly applied to the compressor by means of disconnecting the input power and joining it to the compressor input lead... if it hasn't worked by this time... it is your issue!!

Consider a new refrigerator... and getting RICH selling your
black MARVEL DEFROST TIMER on eBay.

NB: New Marvel 6RFI are still for sale (cheap) on eBay (If your COMPRESSOR is toast!)

Good luck and happy hunting!!

Our Marvel icemaker was working great then it starting making ice at a much slower pace. It is not make ice no where near as fast as it was. What could be the problem?

Could be a dirty condenser coil, blocked return air, if the ice machine is in a warm environment it takes longer to make ice, water temperature if it is warmer it will take longer to make ice. if water inlet valve is letting water seep buy during freeze cycle it will take longer to freeze.

Whirlpool snack pan track broken

You are absolutely correct...

IF AVAILABLE... (few OLD refrigerator parts are)
refrigerator parts are usually sold as functional parts.

I have seen ... and I am sure if you look long enough...
ONE DAY you will find some business that is able to
inventory EVERY REFRIGERATOR part ever made...
Stock, list, sell & ship... and still make a profit.

As for me... I would be THANKFUL to find
my parts. l have spent weeks trying to get an intelligent
RESPONSE ... out of "1st Source Servall"
Customer Service Representative...

It was more important for "Nancy" to argue with me about part numbers... (their cost $172.. (I think: never got answer)).

I finally caved... ripped out the motor... and looked it up on eBay
$22 USD ... and 3 days later the MARVEL 6RFI is working
fine again... 2.3W 1300 RPM 115V condenser fan.

I am just saying SEARSPARTSDIRECT was(in my opinion)
the worst... "1st Source Servall" just pushed them off of that pedestal.

I recommend eBay... If you have more TIME than MONEY.

ELSE... buy that assembly (and be very happy to get it).
