Hi ...

I would suggest you try and clean the print head and that should resolve the problem. Follow the below steps to clean the print head:

Perform a Cleaning of the print head:
Caution: Cleaning consumes a certain amount of ink. Perform Cleaning only when necessary.
Note: The pattern varies depending on the printer and version of Windows being used.

  1. Click 'Cleaning' to perform print head cleaning from the Pattern Check window and proceed to step 3 of the print head cleaning instructions. If the Pattern Check window is closed, skip this step and proceed to step 2.

  6. Print a Nozzle Check Pattern and examine.

  7. Perform Cleaning again if necessary.

Memo: If the pattern is still abnormal after two Cleanings, perform up to two Deep Cleanings.

Memo: By clicking 'Initial Check Items' before clicking 'Print Check Pattern', you can see the specific confirmation items in Nozzle Check.

  3. When the confirming message is displayed, click 'OK'. (The Power lamp will blink green and Deep Cleaning starts. The blink stops when Deep Cleaning is over.)

  4. When Deep Cleaning starts, check the contents, and click 'OK'.

Caution: To prevent interruption of the Deep Cleaning process, do not perform any other operations until Deep Cleaning is completed. When the operation of the printer is stopped, Deep Cleaning is completed. Deep Cleaning will take about 75 seconds.

  5. Print Nozzle Check again.

Note: If the printed pattern is still not normal, perform steps 1 through 4 of the Deep Cleaning process one additional time.

Caution: If after two Deep Cleanings the Nozzle Check Pattern is still not normal, turn the printer off and let it sit for 24 hours or more before attempting another Deep Cleaning again. The wait time may allow dried ink in clogged print head nozzles to liquefy, and resolve the problem
If this does not resolve the problem, please reply back and we'll try the next step ...

Will not print black

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

I need a new print head

Check if the service station proper covers the black nozzles when the printhead is parked. Sometimes the mechanics change its position and the printhead dries out.
Try to unclog the nozzles with very hot water. Sometimes it helps. The new printhead is very expensive and you may want to buy a new printer instead.
Remove the printhed, put it in a bowl with the nozzles down and fill with boiled water until the nozzles are covered. Wait 15 min and dry the electric contacts with a dry napkin. Good luck!

This Canon MP530 will print a nozzle check with no problems. It will color copy with no problem. No ink cartridge lights are on. It will not print a report or copy in black. What's wrong?

On your nozzle check, do you see the grid at the top (indicated by red arrow in picture below)? If you don't see this, your pigment black nozzles aren't working. The black bar at the bottom is from the dye black nozzles (small black tank). You may have either plugged nozzles or a bad print head.

Mp530 edible ink

You need to clean the print head manually. Remove tanks from print head, then remove print head. Find a small tray you can put hot water in to the depth of a quarter inch / 6 mm. Soak bottom of print head. Do not touch or get wet the electrical contacts. Next while holding print head in left hand carefully pour a small amount of hot water in the each ink tank well in the print head. Now dab the bottom of the print head where the jets are with a paper towel. Keep dabbing till you get equal size spots of all the colours. Best to wear plastic gloves doing this. Best to use battery water (de-ionized) but if you don't get scale in your electric jug your tap water is fine.

Printer doesn't print black

if the cartridge is not flowing...I would NOT soak it in water as that can flow back into the cartridge...remove it and use a q-tip with rubbing alcohol to clean...then you can use toilet paper to rub across it to make sure its flowing...you should get a solid black line...be sure not to touch where the electronics connect to it...if you do, clean it with the alcohol also

Dear louis,
You have done right thing by cleaning the print head. If the print head still clogged after repeatedly cleaning, It seems that the print head need to be replace with new one. Make it sure by printing nozzle check pattern. Is it good or not?.

Canon mp530 all-in-one

have you tried cleaning the printhead. on the printer there is a button that's labled menu, go to maintance and selelect print head clean. after the printer has done this, in the same section "maintance" you can print a nozzel page and that will show if if there's a blockage in the print head. if the nozzel check is ok, and your getting the problem when you print from the computer, check the setting and make sure you haven't got it set on draft or lower. Good luck
