Hello Hotpoint Guru,
Got a Hotpoint Acquarius VTD60 dryer. Had the problem of the drum not spinning. Removed the screws on the top and 1 side of the dryer and found that the belt had snapped and was lying on the base of the dryer. I have ordered a new one. I guess my question is - I have no idea on the orginal location of the belt ?. What do I put it around ?. Do I need to open the front of dryer as well. If you have any diagrams, it will go a long way
Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Hi. The motor is non adjustable on this washer. Tilt washer forward, get someone to hold it steady, and put belt round motor pulley first, then slip belt on drum pulley, and slowly turn drum by hand, feeding the belt on as you turn drum, be careful not to trap fingers, as it is very tight, this is normal, as the belt is a stretch type, this is the reason the motor is non adjustable. Please rate my advice. Thanks.

This sounds like a classic case of main drum bearing or drum support failure, it is a major repair and not really a DIY repair, unless you are coversant with w/m's
It involves a complete strip down and in some cases it is neccessery to to have to replace the drum as well.
The cost of the parts involved is well in excess of £100.00,and it really is not an economical repair.
I think you would be better off buying a new washer.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

I think the belt has come off or has been damaged.
To open the machine slide out the machine. On the back panel lower 1/3 you will see a plastic panel remove the screws and the panel will come away. Inside you will see the belt. I suspect you will need to reattach the belt of remove it and buy a replacement.

if your hotpoint has no obvious filter its likely to be the type that has the filter built into the main exit hose from the drum to the pump. Clearing these is not as easy.Pull machine out and unplug it, on the rear there is a panel at the bottom which when removed you will see the pump where the exit hose attaches. From the pump to the drum is normally a wider black pipe and this contains the filter. removal of the pipe from the bottom of the drum is normally a jubilie clip but some have plastic clips that are easy to break. once you have dropped the pipe from the drum ( water goes everywhere ) you can then remove the white filter assembly which is like a shuttle **** with ping pong ball in it. clean out fully and make sure its all back together as before.

Hi.
These belts are difficult to fit.
They appear to be too small, but they are in fact a stretch belt, so their is no adjustment provided on the motor itself.
The best way to do it is remove the back panel as you have done, remove the top cover also.
The with someone's assistance, tilt the washer away from you at the rear, getting someone to hold it for you.
Put the belt round the motor pulley first, and start feeding it round the drum pulley, slowing turning the pulley as you do so, the further you get it round, the tighter it will become.
Just keep going, and the belt will go on, watch you don't trap your fingers in the process. If it slips off, then start again.
Good luck
