SOURCE: Instructions to tighten the chain on a 2003 Polaris Trailboss 330
I have the same problem and it's wearing on my frame we tightened it and all it did was stiffen the suspension
SOURCE: 20 month old 3900 Polaris, Drive chain keeps
Check the float on the back of the machine. Mine was full of water. As soon as I replaced it , everything ran perfectly again.
I tried every possible 'obvious' solution, from new wheel bearings to a new chain tensioner-thingie. You will notice that there is actually relatively little room for the chain to slip off the drive gear.
Seems that this additional weight a) turns the float into a sink and b) provides enough drag to force chain slippage.
After replacing the float, everything runs perfectly again. Of course, our friends at Polaris have now decided that you cannot simply buy a new float. You have to buy the ENTIRE BACK, paying 90 bucks for something that should cost no more than 10 - 15! Scoundrels.
release the automatic tensioner. strip down and retention
SOURCE: how can I shorten the chain on a Polaris 3900 pool sweep
Curious to know why it needs shortening. The machine should have an automatic tensioner inside that keep the chain right. I am unaware of any way, or any need, to shorten the chain.
Get on YouTube or a Polaris site to see if all your internal parts are present and functioning correctly.
