Absolutely not. The risk of damage to the battery is only a minor concern compared to the fire hazard you would be creating.

SOURCE: Ryobi p111 charger -- light stays red

My charger do the same thing. I talked with the service people at Ryobi who said that the red led never goes out no matter how long you charge it. They suggested just charge it for 12 hours and then disconnect. Pretty dumb system, but that's apparently the way it is.

SOURCE: can you charge ryobi lithium batteries in a

NO! Never charge lithium batteries in a charger designed for nickle based batteries like the NiHi your old charger was meant for. Ryobi did design the new Lithium charger to be backwards compatible so you can charge your older 18V NiHi batteries in the Lithium 18V charger.
Also note, NEVER miss-match the voltage, for example, make sure you are not trying to charge 12V batteries in an 18V charger unless the manufacturer has specifically stated that the charger is capable of multiple voltages.

Can the drill be permenantly kept charging to be ready if needed

Hi there. I would not suggest that you leave it on charge, as you may burn the charger, or pop the battery. These units are very sensitive and should rather be charged and battery removed, so that no current is drawn from the unit, and when needed, the battery can be fiitted and ready to use. The charge however will also not stay in the battery for longer than a month or so. Hope this helps

New drill batteries wont hold a charge also, Bought a new battery screwdriver, the charger has exploded within 1 week

Don't even bother to try repair either of them, Take them back to the dealer under warranty and make them his responsibility, If you try repair them the warranty will fall away.

Ryobi p103 battery charged but dosen't work.

You need to have the charger tested, if you know that batteries are good then what else could it be. This LIon charger has a logic circuit in it like a computer.

Can a bad ryobi 18 drill ruin a new 18volt ryobi battery

If the drill has a short in it, then yes, it could short the battery out. Probably in the trigger switch.

Battery charger model 1400666 not charging The red led is not on.this is a 12 volt charger.

I have two 18volt chargers doing the same thing. I have had them apart and it seems to be the transformer not pushing any power thru. If you can find a transformer that fits and has the right voltage that should fix the problem. From what I can make out if you leave the battery in for too long on charge it cooks the transformer. Hope this helps
