I have a Panasonic Viera Plasma TV TH-42PA60L. I purchased it through the military exchange (AAFES). It is dual voltage and multi-system. It works fine with DVDs etc. but satelliteand cable TV is only comes in black and white. We are in Germany which operates on the PAL system and we selected PAL settings to try and get the picture in color. I also tried NTSC settings with no change. Other than the black and white picture, the reception is perfect. Also, I see there is a color matrix setting but it doesn't allow me to change it. Any idea what could be causing the problem?

If you are connected to a HD cale box using component cables IE (G, R & B) then check if either the Red or the Blue has come loose or unplugged as this will cause most HD sets to revert to a black and white picture.

While a modern PAL TV can display NTSC sources (namely DVD players and PAL VHS players that support pseudo-NTSC), an NTSC TV can not display a PAL source, unless it's an expensive multi-standard TV. Sorry pal, bad choice.

Consult the owner manual for the player (and or try it on another set) as many players have settings that can cause B&W or a single color display for the image.
