If it was running okay before it went on charge and doesn't now, it is likely to be an electronic fault. They make it so that you can't run the vacuum whilst it is being charged. Try removing the battery for a few hours.
Nothing should go wrong, but when you are charging in the camera, with an USB cable, the camera can't be used. It supposed to be in the manual, but I don't know what camera you have, so I could not search on what page it is.
