In the record menu for my panasonic dmc fz300, I can't access the HDR, Panoramic, or Handheld Nightshot functions. They are greyed out instead of white, and when I try to access them, they disappear and the menu goes on to other functions.
Some of these functions are not available when other options are set on the camera. HDR and handheld night mode aren't available if you are saving the images with the Quality set to RAW or either RAW + JPEG option. It doesn't work with still pictures when in movie mode. HDR is also not compatible with the Time Lapse Shot or Auto Shoot in Stop-Motion Mode. I'm not sure if there are similar limits with the Panoramic shot mode.
See the advanced manuals available on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ300 product page, http://shop.panasonic.com/cameras-and-camcorders/cameras/lumix-point-and-shoot-cameras/DMC-FZ300K.html , for these restrictions. The direct link to the manual is currently ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/camera/om/dmc-fz300_en_adv_om.pdf . Page 78 covers the Handheld Night Shot and page 126 covers the HDR mode. Look in the box with the blue background for these limits.
I hope this helps.

Testimonial: "Very helpful. And got me to looking more carefully at the manual (which I had printed out long ago). Found that for Panorama had to have mode dial turned to Panorama (duh) where can chose between standard or wide depending on the direction and length you want to pain. No Raw. For Handheld nightshot has to be in IA and jpeg only. Just curious. How many of you shoot in Raw when can? I do, but I"m not sure I do enough editing to make it worthwhile.,"
In my family, most shooting with a digital camera is done in RAW. However, we normally print 8x10 images. That goes back to 35mm black and white film that was developed at home in our dark room. Those shots were done on a Minolta starting before I was born. The JPEGs are only used for images that will be transferred by email.

It might be telling you that the card you have in the camera isn't fast enough to keep up with the demands of a video recording. You need to buy a more expensive card with a faster speed rating.

You will find that the date and time and a whole bunch of other information is located within your photos.
To get this information all you need to do is right click on the image and then click on properties and then click on details tab.
It pays to make sure the date and time are set correctly on your camera for it to mean anything.
