This sounds like the fuel pump is shot. The pump has a 'dead' spot and when the engine is started by using 'nasty' starting fluid it will go to the running mode and run fine. Never use starting fluid!!! A bit of gas is best, just use common sence. Frankster016

your idle/primary(pilot jet) circuit is blocked.Clean the carbs or have them professionally cleaned and put the starting fluid away.

sounds like you killed the starter relay. If it takes a lot to start a bike eventually the contacts can weld themselves "open" causing the starter to continue cranking which would explain the sound you heard at the red light.

sounds like youve really done your home work all that comes to mind now is try a cam posistion sensor this would keep your car from starting as well if that is good you can aslo try a crank sensor. you will get all of the readings that you are getting and these sensors can still be bad.

Sounds like it may be a failing coil or a bad plug. Check to see if you have good spark , check to see if it is actually going into neutral... boats will not spark if it thinks it's in gear. You'll not even get a hint of activity from the starter .. Usually occurs in cable shifters when it is stretching from age. Every year I get guys coming in with engines growling that they are junk .. Problem is fixed in 5 seconds. To find out you simply disconnect the cable at the engine and manually put it in neutral .. If it is the problem then the engine fires right up. Simply adjust the cable or replace it if it's too old.
