I have a Sony 75Z9D. I am trying to connect to a Denon AVR-1706. Tried running the audio into the Denon from the TV with the digital optical input but have no sound. TV is set for external audio.

SOURCE: denon 3801.cant display setup on tv

Hello gerrydav, What might be happenening is the refresh rate for your blu-ray is offsync for your preferred display. You should be able to change it by plugging it into another TV and playing around with the settings. If you have further problems please feel free to post again.
Please post what you do and how you did it. I look forward to your posts.

SOURCE: Analog output from digital input for Denon AVR 3803

On the Denon AVR-888 (and I presume others), you have to put the unit in "record" mode. This is covered under "Other Operations and Functions" in the manual. Here are the steps:
1. On the front of the unit, press the zone2/rec select button
2. Turn source select until "recout source" is displayed
3. Turn source select to choose the input source

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: I have a Denon AVR

The optical audio connection (the TOSLINK) only works when paired with the Component connectors. Now you are using the the Composite one so you must use the audio connectors associated with it, the red and white next to it; then select the VCR1 input when you want to use them.
The audio quality will suffer a little but it will most surely pass unnoticed in most of the cases.

How to hook up a denon avr -1706 receiver to a lg smart tv

When connecting your AVR-1706 to your LG TV, you will most likely be limited by the connections on your AVR-1706 as it does not have any HDMI capability.

In this case, depending on your LG TV, you would get the best video performance by using the component video connections from your TV to the Receiver. These are the one labeled Y, Pb, and Pr. These are special cables and you will need 2 sets if you want to run video out of your TV (perhaps you are using the internal tuner). Refer to page 6 of your AVR manual for the TV video inputs. Please note you will only use one type of input such as Component, S Video or Composite (descending order of performance). You must connect the Video Out from your AVR to the back of the TV's Video In as shown on page 6 as a minimum to get signals from devices other than the TV.

On page 12 of your AVR manual you can see the connections for TV outputs including the audio connections to the AVR. In the case of audio, you can either use Optical Digital (Toslink) out from the TV or coaxial (RCA) cables: Again in descending order of performance.

If you don't have the AVR-1706 manual handy, you can see it at the following link: http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/033/033AV1706B.PDF

RE: Denon AVR 3300 - I cannot get the system setup menu to display on Phillips P50PFP5332D tv screen? All connected components work and sound great, but I cannot see Denon's Setup menu on tv to a

I understand, it's something I've misunderstood on my denon avr-790 as well when connected to a samsung 8000 series led tv.
The answer isn't in the receiver's settings (you can be on whatever source you want on the receiver end when toggling the menu). You need to toggle through the tv's sources to find the menu (usually found on hdmi 1). I've spent towards an hour recently troubleshooting only to find that it was the tv's source that wasn't set properly and I was trying to change the receiver's settings instead of the tv's source.
Hope that helps!

How do I set my receiver to read TV/CBL Dolby Digital. It is a AVR 789

The Dolby digital signal is outputted only through the Optical or Coaxial socket of the CBL box. you will have to get an optic fiber or coaxial cable depending which cable box you have and connect it to the digital input of the Denon receiver. The Denon's digital input are already assigned at the back. Eg: Optic input might be labeled CD so if you are connecting the CBL box to the optic input remember to select CD on the Denon to hear the cable sound, same goes with the coaxial input.

How do I connect my computer to denon avr-1706

Depends on your computer's sound capabilities. At a minimum you could use its analog headphone and microphone jacks as Output and Input, respectively and run them to a Tape loop on the receiver.

If you have compatible digital audio ports on your PC, conenct them to their respective corresponding outs and ins on the Receiver.

Denon AVR-688 Dolby Digital issues

IT IS ALWAYS BEST TO CONNECT ANALOG AUDIO IN ADDITION TO THE OPTICAL, COAXIAL OR HDMI AUDIO CONNECTION. IF USING OPTICAL OR COAXIAL CONNECTIONS BE SURE TO CONFIGURE IT IN THE RECEIVERS DIGITAL ASSIGNMENT AREA IN SETUP.
ALSO, ON THE FRONT OF THE RECEIVER IS AN INPUT MODE BUTTON, PRESS THIS BUTTON UNTIL AUTO IS DISPLAYED
