Do a reset to this TV, and then check. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the sites linked here. Usualy a problem with the LCD screen itself, that takes replacing the whole screen to fix. Sorry. Could also be an internal connector that has gone bad. There are tiny transistors on most displays that control whole rows and columns. It sounds like one went bad, causing a dead, or constant on, column. Unless you are REALLY handy, it will probably need to go to a service center for repair, which could be very expensive. Try flexing your screen - wrap a non-fibrous cloth around your hand and squeeze the screen lightly all around the edge. If you find a point where squeezing the screen makes things better or worse, explore that point further. Squeeze just hard enough to make a white area go light grey or yellow. It's safe to squeeze gently with something fluffy when the computer is turned-on. Could be a cable problem - either the cable is not making a good connection at one end, or the cable itself may have been crushed and one of the lines in it broken. Replacing the cable is far cheaper than replacing the display. Good luck

The problem I was having was that the vertical deflection was
collapsing on itself from the top. I'm a tech and I am visiting web
sites who experience similar problems with the Magnavox 20 MT4405 in
hopes of saving them time and money."Starsong" has the right answer.
Replace electrolytic capacitor #2465. It is a
10 microfarad electrolytic capacitor rated at 160 volts. Although the
existing capacitor appeared good,in circuit and out, the
charge-discharge time was flat as compared with a new capacitor. Plus,
when the capacitor is in circuit with full voltage applied, the
capacitor leaks too much. The cost of the capacitor should be under $2.
It should take under a half an hour to replace. Be certain to let your
set rest, unplugged, for at least a half hour before attempting to
replace this capacitor. There are high voltage present around the crt
even after the set is turned off. The high voltages can cause serious
bodily harm. I would suggest a tech discharge the anode on the crt with
a high voltage probe passing through a volt meter and running to
ground. You will need a soldering iron, solder ******, solder, and I
like to use a little flux for good adhesion of component to board.

1) Connect your signal source - either CABLE or ANTENNA.
2) Go into your menu and select your signal source to match.
3) SCAN in the channels. This will give you all channels available.
Your User Manual will give you all information.
If you are on cable, you may have to check with your supplier to see if they carry local stations.
