Maytag Centennial Washer MVWC400XW3 When putting clothes in washer, regular cycle, it stays in 'sensing' and 'lock'. After running as many tests online that I can find, it will fill with water, it drains, it dosen't seem to spin, the clothes are sopping wet. Even when placed on 'drain and spin' nothing happens. I've run the tests from this site: Appliance Assistant website An I think that error code I got was F2E1 (Sensing + Spin flashed then the Done light) What I've tried: Door Lock= has been replaced Actuator= has been replaced Unplugged the washer= for 1 hour After all this, when I tryin to run a regular load, nothing happens, it still stays in 'sensing' and 'lock' I finally paid someone to come out and fix it and they replaced the Capacitor - Quick and easy fix - Hopefully this helps someone
Unfortunately that error code is for a stuck keypad. It's like the button is being held down constantly. You can replace the control panel or clear error codes and try again, also you need to calibrate this washer after changing parts. If you open the lid and reach between the tub and cabinet at the front left corner, you will find the tech manual.

Try these steps:
1.) Take the washer outside. 2.) Loosen the two screws on the back panel and remove the back panel. The pump sits on the left-side of the opening. There's a black water hose with a metal clamp; 3.) squeeze the metal clamp with your fingers until it's loose enough to slide away from the pump. 4.) Separate the hose from pump and the trapped water will pour out and the door will then open; and 5.) clear any blockage from the drain hose and the pump.

You can replace with any of "universal" actuator.
Its just a small motor inside power door lock, that works up and down according to the electricity that come into it. Good luck !

SOURCE: want to disengage lid lock on maytag centennial
I had the same problem. The lid lock assembly is broken.
If you are under warranty get it replaced. If not remove the top of the washer
and take out the switch assembly. The 4 wires going in are Yellow, Red, White,
and Blue. If you short the white and blue together, the washer thinks the lid
is closed. If you short the red white and blue together the washer thinks the
lid is closed and locked. The yellow is only there to activate the
electromagnetic switch.
Disconnecting the switch assembly will not work.
The electromagnet locks the lid and it also unlocks the lid. It is not a matter
of cutting the power to the magnet.
Installing 2 switches that connect the red white and blue is the best option if
you want to remove the lock.
The first switch should connect the white and blue. (LID CLOSED)
The second should connect the red to the white/blue connection. (LID LOCKED)
After that the lid should work.
Please post a follow-up if this works for you.
GOOD LUCK
