If the line is only on the display and not also on the photos when you download them to the pc, then you only need to have the LCD display replaced. I am not used it but i think the problem is the improper display time settings, it is used for long battery stand by time, its not a fault

Samsung has been having very serious problems with the CCD imagers in their camcorders for some time now. I would give them a call and let them know how disappointed you are in the camera. Almost all manufacturers having this problem are repairing the cameras at no charge to the customer.
