flip switch is not working or stucked, a loose wire connected to this switch is also possible. you may open the unit and check for it. a pro fix is better.

This is caused by a bad capacitor in the vertical circuit. If you can solder, you may be able to resolve this yourself. If you wish to attempt this repair, please update this and I will provide additional details and instructions.

SOURCE: Windows XP screen is flipped upside down...virus?!

Virus is possible but check the software for your video driver first. This has keyboard sequences that allow the screen to be rotated. Minimize any windows you have open till you have the desktop on the screen. Then on a blank area of the desktop in the middle of the screen right click mouse. If you see an option for screen properties or rotate screen or screen options choose it. In there you should see an option for rotating the screen

Plays back on lcd screen upside down at times

When the viewport is completely flipped around so you can see it when you are looking at the lens, it automatically flips it upside down so it is right side up to the viewer. Make sure it is locked into the correct position to prevent this from happening.

Hope this helps

Telescope doesn't seem to work

This issue will be extremely hard to diagnose over the net but I'll give it a try. This is from Meade. The link to the online manual is below: http://www.meade.com/manuals/etx90ec/index.html Unable to see an image through the eyepiece:
  • Confirm that the lens cover has been removed from the telescope.
  • Confirm that the flip-mirror control (16, Fig. 1) is in the "up" position if using the eyepiece holder (4, Fig. 1) so that light is directed to the eyepiece (1, Fig. 1). Confirm that the flip-mirror control is in the "down" position if using the #932 Erecting Prism or doing photography with the ETX-90EC (see Telescope Controls and PHOTOGRAPHY WITH THE ETX-90EC).
It sounds like you are correct about a mechanical issue with the knob that moves the mirror. If you need a quick fix try your local camera repair or watch repair shop as the are familiar with intricate parts. The camera shop would be preferable as they know optics. Otherwise you could ship it to me and I could repair it fro you depending on the availibility of parts if parts were needed. Check my picture for my site address and get contact info there for more information.

NO it is NOT missing a lens-- all astronomical telescopes show upside down images.

You can buy an "erecting prism" diagonal for terrestrial viewing, but you do not need it to view the night sky.

Here is an example of the erecting prism:

Just got a Meade ETX 90 and cannot see anything thru the eyepiece. I've tried the focus screw, lens covers are off, and flip switch is in correct position. Anyone know the answer?

Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the TOP of the scope eyepiece holder.

Practice focusing on a distant object during the daytime. It may take several turns of the focuser know.

Also check the TINY setscrew on the side of the focuser knob. It may be loose and need tightening so it will GRIP the focuser shaft.

Image is upside down (inverted)

All astronomical telescopes show upside down images this is normal.

You can buy an "erecting prism" to use for terrestrial viewing from many on-line retailers here is one: This will flip the image so it is not upside down.

Image is upside down

A telescope sees that way. you have to have a corrective lens to right the view. Its a physics thing about how light goes thru a lens and at the lens flips over upside down, you need another neutral lens to flip it right side up again. If you got the entire kit try another lens till you find the corrective lens.

Just came into a used tasco 302048 . Everything is upside down!!!

the scope is made for both terrestrial viewing and astronomical. In order to see terrestrially upright, you need an inverting STAR DIAGONAL. The eyepiece will do nothing for inverting the image. you might have 2 diagonals in the kit that came wih the scope. the diagonal is the part that fits into the scope. then you place the eyepiece in the diagonal. if you have 2 diagonals , one is a 90 degree angle,(astronomical) and one is a 45 degree angle, (terrestrial). the eyepieces change the magnification of the image. the bigger the number (9mm, 20mm, 26mm,) the smaller the image. the smaller the number , the bigger the image gets. the number is inverse of the image. Hope this helps.

Everything is upside down thru the lens

Reflector telescopes are design for looking at stars, and in space there is no right side up. Try taking it out at night and look at the moon. Your telescope is performing just as it should, there are no problems with upside down views when looking at objects on the ground.
