I don't have the disc & have tried going back to the restore dates with no help. What can be done for this. I need direct answers for this problem. Thank you

We get so many PW questions here, it is amazing.
first off fixya is not DELL.
dell 790 multiplex you mean. (it does have bios reset jumper) but is off topic that.


you are like the first ever to say I have w7 amazing,
with and that windows w7 admin login is lost. (or no admin and only 1 users and now that is lost)
you cant get another pw. ok?
after all you cant log in, and for fact not ADMIN.


Microsoft will even tell you , reload windows.
(new laws , new rules)


yes there are 2 ways in, one you can't do
I have 3 passwords on my w10, 2 admin and user.
that way either admin can repair the users, see?
but if you never did that day 1, with admin.
then you locked out. (BY DESIGN)
the answer is but one, a hack disk.

leaving one way in.
google how to hack w7 passwords.
a hack disk or usb stick
buy the disk and get infected. (most are chock a block full of malware> unlike below, ways.

or do it BY HAND< as clearly stated here.

  • then know that all hacks can fail. sure can .
  • know that the hack can even brick the PC making any recovery fail. (for sure if MS gets head out of their can)

SOURCE: Dell Dimension 2350 restore cd or bootable cd.

go to pricegrabber.com to buy a new copy of XP. Save the stuff U want and install the new os. reload U'r saved data. If some of what U wnat to save are programs, U will have to reinstall those. The new XP os will self install from cd on boot up.

Remove BIOS battery. Short BIOS jumper or leave the battery out for a long time(Over night,maybe) This should default the BIOS to having no pass word present.  If that doesn't work then evidently Dell has one within the BIOS . Just ask them.

How can I download SoundmAX audio on my new Dell Windows XP Professional desktop?

Dell has a great support site- if you can find the Service Tag on your computer (usually a string of 7 letters and numbers) and type it in, it will take you to the correct drivers. The SoundMAX driver is usually installed from a package named "Analog Devices ADI Integrated Audio".
If you can't find the tag (mine was behind a door on the front!), you can click "Choose from all products", then Desktops, the model name (e.g., OptiPlex), and then the model number.

Hello there
I have found two things which will help you.
A Technical Guide to the Optiplex 790 which will download from here:

It is in pdf format and can be saved to your computer for future reference.
Also I found a Service Manual here:

If you click on the green download button at the top of the page then you will taken to a page where you enter 3 letters that are given to you and you can then opt to download it or view in your browser. In both cases it can be saved to your computer.
The latter has a good section on beep codes, and light codes on page 73 ( Chap 20) and following.
It gives your 2-3-4 as a possible USB failure, so try booting with no USB items attached - printer, flash drive, scanner, external drive etc.
It gives your 1-2 code as an expansion card failure and gives various means of checking.

A "friend" sold me this junk dell demension 8200 it worked 1 week, now screen stays black says to type password you cannot do anything then it says system haulted power down?

The best thing to do is to reinstall Windows on the computer so you have a clean system. The Windows label that has the product installation code also has the Windows version printed on this label.
My guess is Windows XP Pro. If you do not have this installation CD then I recommend you get a Recovery CD for your model Dell from the Dell WEB site.
You can download a recovery CD or the device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag label is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you select the Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. You may be able to download the Windows 7 drivers from the Dell WEB site. If there are no Windows 7 drivers then the Vista drivers may work.

Restoring A Dell computer/laptop back to the Factory setup
If you do not have a RECOVERY CD then contact Dell to purchasethis Recovery CD for your model Dell laptop. Boot up using the Recovery CD andfollow the instructions.
The other way is to re- install Windows using a Windows installation CD; itmust match the Windows version on the Windows Product Code label on the bottomof your laptop. Boot up using the Windows installation CD and follow theinstructions. Next install all of the Dell's computer/laptop devicedrives. Next install the Windows service packs (SP2 & SP3 forXP, SP1 & SP2 for Vista) Next Activate Windows via the Internet or by phone. Next install your programs - Microsoft Office etc. Next click on Start - Programs - Windows Update (for thelatest updates).
The device drivers for your model computer/laptop can be downloaded from theDell WEB support site. To download the drivers from Dell WEB site, select yourmodel desktop or laptop, or a better option, type in the Service Tag number,this is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop and on the back orsides of a desktop. How to restore dell vostro 200 computer back to factory settings

1. Restart the computer.
2. As the computer restarts, press the F8 key until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears on the screen.

Note:
You must press F8 before the Windows logo appears on the screen. If you press F8 after the Windows logo appears, the Advanced Boot Options menu does not appear on the screen. If you do not see the Advanced Boot Options menu, restart the computer, and then repeat this step until you see the menu on the screen.

3. Press the (Down Arrow) to select Repair Your Computer on the Advanced Boot Options menu, and then press Enter.

4. Specify the language settings that you want, and then click Next.

5. Log in as a user who has administrative credentials, and then click OK.

6. Click Dell Factory Image Restore.

7. In the Dell Factory Image Restore window, click Next.

8. Click to select the check box for Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition.

9. Click Next. The computer is restored to the default factory configuration.

10. When the restore operation is completed, click Finish to restart the computer.
