SOURCE: No surround sound when attaching hdmi to TV

Try running the optical TOSLINK cable from the TV to the receiver. If the TV doen't have a digital optical output, then try going into the menu on your cable box and setting the audio output to the digital optical out. Also check your TV menu and make sure NETCOMMAND is diabled. Some of your newer HDTV have Netcommand that allows the TV to control other devices through the HDMI cable.

SOURCE: Sony PCM 48 Issue

As long as you continue to have both HDMI and optical outputs connected at same time from the cable box, it will probably always choose the default as HDMI. If you do not want to change any connections then the best thing to do in this case is to always leave the cable box turned on. Otherwise, disconnect the HDMI and connect it to the TV by component video.

SOURCE: Sony HT-CT100 soundbar + STR-DG720 = Yes misery, no audio

It's not going to do whayt you want. On the premise that you can't run a dedicated receiver to a dedicated receiver. One processor is not going to override another. The soundbar is a "self contained" closed system. Much like Bose products. I understand what you are looking for, it just can't be done with this product. Options: replace the sony soundbar with a passive polk soundbar or similar and keep the AV receiver or: Return the AV receiver and use the nice, but limited sony amplified soundbar. Hope this helps

Which TV do you have? Your TV might have an 'Optical' audio out. You'll need a specialist cable to do this. These cables are usually cheap to buy and easy to get a hold of. Connect the cable to the 'Optical' Out on the back of the TV and the other end into the 'OPT' port in the back of the sound bar. This should mean you can use the HDMi port for your firestick.
The cable's plug only fits in one way around so be careful fitting it. Your sound-bar might have a small protector peg in the hole you'll need to remove first.
Usually, any sound played through the TV will play through the optical cable so it will play through the sound-bar.

Soundbar connection from Phillips TV to a Samsung HD 550 soundbar

The sound bar only needs sound input from the tv so optical cable connection will work fine. HDMI cable will also work fine. Use the one that you have available.

How do I connect my ht ct260h step by step, with hdmi input do I use

HDMI can be a bit confusing when first connecting a system. Overall, the HDMI cable system allows for less clutter and digital audio and video, but you need some background to get it right.

The simple answer to your question is that the HDMI on your TV that is labeled HDMI out will go to your soundbar's HDMI input. Now, the reason you have a picture but no sound, will be one of 2 problems. If your TV is labeled with ARC, this means that it has an HDMI with Audio Return Channel and will be compatible with your CT260h soundbar. If you don't have sound, then you need to replace your HDMI cable with a ver1.4 HDMI cable so that ARC is supported in the cable design. If your TV does not provide ARC, then you will need to connect the audio using the digital optical connection which is a fiber optic cable of the TOSLINK variety. This cable should have been included with your soundbar packing.

Also be aware that if you buy a HDMI1.4 with Redmere technology to save on the size of the cable, it has a direction for the signal flow which must be adhered to, otherwise the cable will not pass either audio nor video.

I hope that answers your question.

Connect a Sharp TV to Sharp sound bar

Call a local custom audio/video installer that can help you for a small fee. It's okay to pay a professional and get the right help. It shouldn't cost you more than $50 at most, but probably half that amount since it's a very simple connection.

Here's a couple of weblinks that may be helpful...

How to connect sharp HT-SB350 to Sharp LC-42D69U

You may have to use the optical cable connections. Make sure there is an optical out on the tv and on the sound bar. Get an optical cable to connect them and go to the audio setup screen and direct the sound from internal speakers to optical out.

Macbook Pro DVI---> HDMI + Digital Optical Out = Problem w/ Sound

On the Sony The HDMI takes "priority" over all others, that's why you loose audio. If you run your DVI/HDMI to the TV and optical to the soundbar that would fix your issue. If your TV does not have Multiple HDMI inputs, you can get a DVI/Component adapter for your MBP then run it to the TV, or, If you have to have HDMI just to have HDMI, you can get a 2:1 HDMI switch and still have optical to your soundbar. Make sense? If youneed more help, just post a comment and I'll help some more.
