Please do you have any advice as to how to get the raw files into iPhoto? FYI iPhoto will download both raw + jpeg files from my Canon EOS 50D camera. Thanks Bridget
Sadly the likelihood is now that iPhoto is deprecated, there's going to be no way to do it directly. However, you could try using Adobe's DNG Converter software (free download - yay!) and then see if iPhoto will import those. Because raw files differ from camera to camera and manufacturer to manufacturer, software companies periodically issue new raw interpreters for their photo software. Since iPhoto is defunct, Apple aren't doing this any more. Have you tried Apple's Photos instead? You may need to do a system update to achieve this as 10.9.5 is pretty old now.

Are the videos in AVCHD Lite or Motion JPEG? Most computers can't handle AVCHD.....most of the time, you can only play them on an HD tv.

You could try using a card reader to upload the videos to a folder on your desktop.
