  4. Heat a kadai and add 10 tbs of oil to it. Now add mustard seeds, chanadal as well as urad dal, and when the mustard seeds splutter add the ground paste to it and fry for a few seconds. This pickle goes well with idlis, dosas, and also with rice.

General Tso's Tofu

Here is an amazing tofu recipe that i found online and unfortunately can\'t find the website where i copied it from. But it makes this (in my opinion) unflavored food taste like heaven.

Ingredients:

For the Tofu:
1 package of tofu
1 tbs arrowroot
3 tbs gluten-free, low-sodium tamari
1 tbs fresh ginger, grated or 1 tsp. ground
1-2 tbs canola or peanut oil

For the Sauce:
1 tbs sesame oil
1/4 cup gluten-free, low-sodium tamari
1 tbs arrowroot
1 tbs fresh ginger, grated or 1 tsp. ground
3 tbs honey
2 tbs hot sauce (optional)
1 tbs canola oil or peanut oil
4-5 scallions, thinly sliced
4 cloves garlic, minced
Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions:
Cut the tofu into cubes. In a shallow bowl, combine the arrowroot, tamari and ginger. Whisk until smooth. Add the tofu and toss to coat.
Let the tofu marinate for at least half an hour, the longer the better.
When the tofu has marinated, heat 1 tbs of canola or peanut oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the tofu to the skillet and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 4 minutes per side. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set aside.
Wipe out the skillet because you’re going to use it again.
In a large measuring cup or bowl, combine the sesame oil, tamari, arrowroot, ginger, honey and hot sauce, if using. Whisk until smooth. Set aside.
Heat the canola oil or peanut oil in the skillet over medium heat. Add the scallions and garlic and cook until fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
Add the sauce to the skillet and let it cook until it thickens a bit. If it gets too thick, add some water.
Add the tofu to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce and reheat the tofu.
Sprinkle some sesame seeds over the dish when ready to serve.
Bon Apetit!

I'm trying to make egg rolls but I'm not sure what to put in them? Please help

Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 quart peanut oil for frying
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 2 ounces shredded carrots
  • 8 (7 inch square) egg roll wrappers
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds (optional)
Adjust Servings recipe yields 8 servings Directions
  1. Season pork with ginger and garlic powder and mix thoroughly. Heat mixture in a medium skillet, stirring, until pork is cooked through and no longer pink. Set aside.
  2. In another large skillet heat oil to about 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) or medium high heat. While oil is heating, combine flour and water in a bowl until they form a paste. In a separate bowl combine the cabbage, carrots and reserved pork mixture. Mix all together.
  3. Lay out one egg roll skin with a corner pointed toward you. Place about a 1/4 to 1/3 cup of the cabbage, carrot and pork mixture on egg roll paper and fold corner up over the mixture. Fold left and right corners toward the center and continue to roll. Brush a bit of the flour paste on the final corner to help seal the egg roll.
    1. Place egg rolls into heated oil and fry, turning occasionally, until golden brown. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels or rack. Put on serving plate and top with sesame seeds if desired.

How do you make your own garlic cough syrup? I heard from a neighbor that it really works.

Chop up some fresh garlic along with some ginger. Mix it in honey and let it marinade for at least a night. Once it's ready you can take a tablespoon full whenever you are coughing.
