I have a Speed Queen top loader. About 1 second after the start of the spin cycle, the unit ""trip" and suspend spin-cycle. After several minutes it would attempt to spin again. After a couple of retries it sometimes completes the washing cycle. The motor is not very hot (you can touch it). I suspect the switch on the spin-motor to be faulty. It is not leaking water. Any suggestions on what the problem could be and how I can test? Can I replace just the switch on the motor?

First unplug the machine, now take off the front panel, two screws at the bottom of the front panel, front panel swings up and off.
check to make sure the six springs are still in place.
Under the tub is bearing housing between the tub and base usually white in color, under this is a plastic ring, does it seem to float easily when you move the tub. it could be broken. Also look around for loose or missing screws.
If all seems fine, make sure you have all four rubber feet on, level machine, in the front first side to side, then pull machine toward you to bring rear legs off floor, these are self leveling, have someone assist and make sure they are not stuck, use a pliers and break loose if they are. So with the machine on its front feet and the back feet off the ground set the machine down on all four feet check level front to back adjust as needed on the front legs. You should reset rear legs as you adjust the front. now with machine level tight the nut between the front legs and the base locking them.
This should help, if machine still shakes it could be the balance ring, has lost if solution its filled with a salt water solution, the hard part is you need to find it under the tub cover. we will go into the detail if we need to. ask more questions later

Make sure the lags are solid to the floor. Any bit of difference will be exagerate when the washer spins. put a piece of paper under each of the front legs. While the washer is spinning try and pull the paper out. If you can pull the paper out with no problem, that leg needs adjusted to the floor more. If Ican help further, please let me know
THanks

If it does not drain, I'd check the water pump first (for an obstruction - I found a sock in my pump and that fixed my problem) ... see this video - the top is getting to the WM drive shaft (transmission), but it shows you how to remove the pump first: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLPGs2UMUJc&feature=related
If it does drain ... Is it just the TOP part of the agitator not working, or the whole thing (agitator is in 2 parts)? If just the TOP, you probably just need new "dogs" (agitator dogs). Check this out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5wIN1J70-Y ... it shows you what to do.
If it is the whole agitator that is stuck, that video will show you how to remove it (remove a single bolt) and you can see if there is an obstruction keep the agitator from moving.
If there's no obstruction or the water pump isn't stuck, you might be looking at a new drive/transmission = expensive. Good luck
