    Hi,
I know this is old but I have the same issue. Capacitor leaking and one leg burned off 4532a. Just wondering did you successfully repair your unit. Thank you.

Well, I opened a DW077 today as it didn't wanted to turn on. It was brought to me by a neighbor and he hadn't a clue what made it stop working. I removed the outside screws and rubber feet using a Torx T10 with a hole in the middle. Be careful not to remove the screws arranged in a square pattern as these hold the steppers in place. You don't want to mess with calibration ! Also be gentle with the rubber around the rotating head. You need to remove the metal ring on the outside to detach the rubber grommet..

Once open, there is not much to be found inside. There is one pcb, two steppers and some other plastic stuff.
Measuring over the big cap indicated 0.9v and over the small cap I had a unstable low voltage. After desoldering some wires, the underside of the PCB can be inspected (all components are on the underside). What I found there was that the main capacitor (1000µF 50v 105°C) of the 5v voltage regulator circuit was blown and leaking electrolyte. Not only was the capacitor gone, it also took an SI4532A mosfet array with it. The 3A fast chip fuse was still intact. The circuit pulled +- 10mA at rest and it went up to 20ma when depressing the power button. That SI4532A chip consists of a P and N mosfet in an SOIC 8pin package. The N side had a hole and the pins were blackened. My guess is that this controls the power on-power off signal that goes to the LM2596-5 buck regulator. I have made some pictures of the damage. So this is a route to research. Hope it helps someoneI have a dewalt dw077 self leveling laser. It wil - ef97737a-7727-4e1a-a617-5f53e48ffec5.jpgmosfet-kn4icmu2u5l1c4znnn0x2wde-d-2.jpg

SOURCE: DEWALT LASER LEVEL SELF LEVELING THE LIGHT LASER

Laser diodes are no like light bulbs. When a light bulb burns out, it goes black. When a laser diode burns out, it goes to an extreme low power state. You can see red at the source, but there is no beam to speak of. If this is what you're seeing, then contact Dewalt. They are low quality instruments, but will try there best to get you a new one, at a reasonable price.

Dewalt dw082 flashing laser

Inside the laser is a small piece of silver paper(self adhesive) this is what the 'out of level' encoder uses to tell the laser when it is level. Is would have come off. You will need to open the laser and re-attach it to the bottom of the pendulum. There is an obvious place for it

How do I check if my dewalt spinning laser is accurate?

Set it up and shoot 4 level points around the laser . Like at 12 -3-6and 9 o clock. Move the laser 15 or 20 ft from where it is now and re-shoot those 4 points again .if they don't read level then your laser needs calibrated

My beam on laser not very visible and being picked up n sensoe to staff

Does changing the battery make a difference in the signal strength? With my Dewalt, I have to change batteries frequently and also clean the battery connections with a soft eraser to keep a strong beam.

One of the reasons, I went with the Dewalt versus the Spectra, I was told that battery life was better in the Dewalt.

Need to know how to calibrate dw077 laser

Hold down the ( V ) button while powering the unit on. THe puts the unit in cal mode for the Y axis. Hold down the up button while powering on the unit, this puts it in cal mode for the X axis. that is as far as I have gotten.
