Dust forming on the lens doesn't normally impede performance or graphic quality, it's the dust that forms on the sensor - at the rear of the camera, that does This can be confirmed by taking a shot of a completely clean scene...say, a white sheet - or a cloudless blue sky.

I can't think of any solution to your problem. I just hope you didn't open the camera with
1. the batteries still installed, or
2. in a brightened room.

If the sensor is exposed to too much light for a prolonged period, all sorts of mystic electrickery can happen...especially frying the sensor altogether.

Best to get it checked by a technician...oh and get them to clean the sensor while they're at it ;)

Are you turning the camera power on when you attempt to charge the battery? The camera power needs to be "OFF" when charging. When connecting the USB cable to your computer the camera must be "ON" and in the "PC" mode. Hope this helps.
