SOURCE: Panasonic HDTV 1080i Lamp out

If the lamp is actually out - replace it - if the lamp is still working just reset the lamp hours - at 10,000 hours it automatically says that but it is just the lamp time needing a reset.

Why won't my Panasonic 42 TCP42S30 42 Plasma TV turn on.

Switch off TV, switch off power, remove plug and wait for 48 hours and retry.
If problem persists, I suggest it is better to refer it to a qualified service
technician, since the back cover has to be opened for investigation/rectification.

Lamp replacement

Sure, I do by myself. Seat on the floor in front of the TV

!st. step: Grasp both side of the silver front cover with your
fingertips and pull it from projection display.
Then remove it.

2nd. At your left hand you can see a black knob. Turn the
open/lock knob to the left. Pull the black unit that have
the lamp inside. Cover out and down to open.

3rd. Loosen the lamp (black unit) screw with screwdriver.
Grasp the handle of the black unit lamp and slowly
remove the unit.

4th. Insert the new lamp black unit being careful. Tighten the
black unit lamp screw with a screwdriver.

5th. Close the lamp cover. Turn the lock/open knob to the
right.

6th. Replace the silver front cover. Finished.

Panasonic DLP

If it has "Popped" then I would expect a rather catastrophic failure, and Lamps don't go "Pop.. they just fail more likely a Capacitor, Resistor, maybe even a semiconductor... so it's off to a reputable repairman get a "quote" and proceed from there.
