Work on mainly Whirlpool Products did you put the belt on correctly there is probably a belt switch which is closed with a properly installed belt it is under the spring loaded idler pulley or maybe you for got to hook up the door switch hope this helps.
put the belt onto the tension pulley first then use the large diameter drum to assist you in in LEVERING the belt on with tensioner spring in place . Failing that remove and replace spring with vice grips (put spring back on as it came off ).
Double the belt and slide it between the two arms of the tension pulley. Then slip the belt over the drive motor pulley. The belt will be pushing against the tension pulley from underneath.
Hi there, There is a switch at the bottom of the dryer. It has a groove for the spring to fit around. Then the spring goes through the metal tag with the holes in the pulley. The pulleys 2 prongs then fits into the slot near the motor. The belt goes through the pulley and around the motor wheel. When fitting the drum, tape the belt at three points on the drum with the machine door facing down making installation easier. Once installed remove the tape. The dryer now works like a dream. See the attached photo. Good Luck!
Your dryer uses a belt wound around a spring loaded pulley and, around the middle of the drum and, around the motor pulley to turn the drum. If you feel capable of fixing ths yourself: Unplug the dryer, if it is gas or, electric. if it is gas: shut off the gas line to the dryer then remove the gasline; next pull the dryer out from the wall and, remove the back panel. Once you do this you will see that the belt has fallen off both the motor pulley and, the spring tension pulley. put the belt back on so that the belt is tight around the drum and, the drum will turn again.
You will have to unplug the dryer and remove the front panel with the door, mark and remove the wires to the door switch, then there should be two screws on the inside which you will need to remove then tilt the panel out and lift to disengage the tabs connecting it to the main cabinet. Then you should be able to remove the old belt, carefully lift the drum and slide the new belt under it. Then this is where you will need to be a contortionist and take care as there are many sharp edges under there. Locate the motor and tensioner pulley, place the belt around the tensioner and while pushing back against the spring on the tensioner hook the belt to the motor pulley, then move belt on drum so it is aligned with lower pulleys. Turn the drum by hand a couple of times to make sure everything works.
unplug the dryer,
220v is not fun
dryers are generic inside, regardless of maker
while you got it apart to replace the belt is a good time to clean out exhaust vent pipes and the squirrel cage fan, no lint, better air flow, less $$ to run
the tensioner may push Up on the lower run.
open case, most front panels are removed including door, remember to disconnect door switch wires, set panel aside
pull drum out
check drum support rollers
check drum felts, bushes guides
locate tensioner pulley, belts have been known to pull them out of the mounting when it breaks, check , reinstall if out
pick up broken belt off floor of case
take belt to parts store and match it, despite the huge number of dryer models there are very few belts.
If any felts or rollers are worn, stuck, damaged take them too to the parts store, and replace in pairs, despite the huge number of dryer models there are very few rollers or felts
after ensuring rollers anf felts and bearings are serviceable, loop new belt around drum at the wear mark from prior installation, reinsert drum
loop new belt around motor pulley.
pull tensioner pulley against spring to end of motion
loop belt around tensioner pulley
allow tensioner to slowly move back by spring tension till the belt is taut
put front panel back on, plugging in door switch
plug in mains
dry clothes
takes longer to type than to do
loop the belt around the drum.
slide the belt down the drum directly over the motor pulley
loop the belt around the motor pulley
pull the tensioner pulley hard to the end of its travel against its spring
wrap the belt around the tensioner pulley
release the tensioner so the spring pulls it against the belt
rotate the drum by hand to ensure the belt is aligned and does not pull offf the pulleys
reassemble case
dry clothes
its easier than it looks seeing a broken belt in the bottom of the case.
Looking from rear of dryer, one spring on motor is for tension, therefore put belt around drum(groove to the drum surface). Then rotate the motor firmly clockwise tensioning the spring, take belt from right of drum over tension wheel then put grooves of belt on shaft of motor.Release motor to tension spring, job done !!!!!
