Winchester keeps an index of all serial numbers and manufacture dates. You can get this info off there website. You will need the model number and serial number, this will get you a year sometimes even a month if it a newer run. Good luck

Based on your model and serial number, this site says it was made in 1949.
I checked a few sources to make sure the above site was credible. The chart on this page also suggests your rifle was made in 1949: http://www.proofhouse.com/win/index.html
