Might try a different presser foot. Could be the machine is not reading the current presser foot correctly or the stitch selections are not compatible with the current presser foot being used, ie a straight stitch presser foot while the stitch selection is zig-zag.

SOURCE: the safety device has been activated

Turn off the power supply and open the needle plate.

Remove the bobbin and bobbin case.

Clean the shuttle and surrounding area from any lint or thread that may have accumulated during use.

If the problem continues, the machine will need to be serviced by a Brother dealer.

SOURCE: presser foot stopped working I turned

Did you connect your machine then press the foot control before you lowered you presser foot? I have a CS6000 and that is what E1 means on my machine. You did not put your model number in so I don't know. You can look in your manual or go online to www.brother-usa.com and look it up for your machine. Try unplugging and plugging it in again, but put your presser foot down then step on your foot pedal.

The pressure foot on my bernina bernette 715 won't move

Troubleshoot this. Here are some steps you can take:

Safety Setting Adjustment:
In newer firmware versions (V9.xx), a safety sewing setting was added to prevent the ruler foot from hitting the needle holder when the foot is hovering and the needle is down.
If your presser foot only raises slightly (about 2mm), it might be due to this safety setting.

To resolve this, change the setting from the maximum of 2mm to a maximum of 6mm.
Remember to switch it back to the original setting when using the ruler foot.

Check the Needle Position:
Ensure that the needle is in the highest position (raised) before attempting to move the presser foot.
If the needle is down, the presser foot may not move freely.

Inspect for Obstructions:
Examine the area around the presser foot for any obstructions, tangled threads, or debris.
Make sure there's nothing preventing the presser foot from moving smoothly.

Presser Foot Pressure Adjustment:
Uneven fabric feed can occur if the pressure on the presser foot is too high or too low.
Adjust the presser foot pressure according to the thickness of the fabric you're working with.

Power Cycle and Reconnect:
Turn off the machine and disconnect it from the power source.
Reconnect it and power it back on.

Refer to the Manual:
Consult your Bernina Bernette 715 user manual for specific troubleshooting steps related to the presser foot. If these steps don't resolve the problem, you may have to take it to a professional repair service.

Directions for filling bobbin in Singer Model 9217. Am I supposed to load the bobbin with the presser foot up or down?

The needle and feed dogs should not move while winding the bobbin (this is a safety function). If they do on your machine, then the mechanism that disables them during bobbin winding is malfunctioning.

Generally, is it not good to run the sewing machine without fabric between the presser foot and feed dogs. The feed dogs will eventually damage the underside of the presser foot and the presser foot will wear down the points on the feed dogs.

Top thread keeps breaking and I do not think it is a bobbin issue. Thread seems to be getting snagged up in one of the upper threading spots. It has been professionally serviced many times.

Remove the top thread from the machine.

Install a brand new needle and confirm that the needle is correct for the thread and fabric you are sewing.

ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Set the top tension to the midway point. Verify the thread path is correct.

When the presser foot is raised, the thread should pull through with very little resistance. Once the presser foot is lowered, the tension is activated and the thread should not pull through.

It could be the thread is catching a notch or groove. I have a machine that the thread has worn a sharp groove in the finish. I covered it with tape. Fixed.

Why do needles keep breaking?

Just guessing here. Is the needle hitting the presser foot? If so, it could be the wrong presser foot for your machine (especially if it is not attaching properly), could be the wrong needle for the machine or is installed incorrectly, could be the needle bar is not centered, or the needle position setting could be off to one side or the other rather than in the middle. Hard to diagnose without more information.

Hyundai 8 stitch sewing machine confused beginner!?????

Not familiar with your machine, but an important suggestion for all sewing machines:

ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread. If you did not do this, remove the top thread completely from the machine and start over by RAISING the presser foot and following the thread path. (Do NOT miss any thread guides or thread any out of order!)

Lower the presser foot and thread the needle. (The top thread will pull through the needle ONLY if the presser foot is raised!) RAISE the presser foot and pull at least 5 inches of thread through the needle. Insert your fabric. Lower the presser foot. Hold the thread tail gently in your left hand and with the right hand manually turn the handwheel one rotation. The needle should pull the bobbin thread up through the fabric.

While still holding the top thread tail, "sweep" under the presser foot with a stiletto, scissors, a nail file (anything that will fit under the presser foot) to pull the remaining bobbin thread tail above the fabric. Grab both thread tails and pull them under the presser foot toward the back of the machine. Now, you are ready to take your first stitch.

You can gently hold those thread tails while you slowly power the machine to take the first couple of stitches on your fabric.

Machine breaks needles
1.make sure you are using the right needle for your type of sewing machine.
make sure the fabric & needle & thread are compatable
Most machines can use generic Schmetz needles. There are cases where the machine will only use ones specified in the owners manual.
2.the presser foot may not be installed properly
3.use the correct needle for the type of fabric you are working with. To fine of needle on heavy fabric or to course a needle on silk or jersey can damage fabric.
4.let the feed dogs guide the fabric & the feed dogs will work with the presser foot .
5.the needle is not all the way in -push all the way up against the stop

the safety device should have worked, unless there is something wrong with it
if it's not been 15 to 30 days since the machine was tuned up, I would suggest taking the machine back & having it rechecked
