My Velodyne DPS-10 does not respond to any of the buttons, the night LED keeps blinking and the movies present remains on but no sound. It worked yesterday and today the lights where on with the receiver off.

Check the status indicator - The LED found on the front panel should be illuminate in blue
when the subwoofer is functioning. If the unit is in Auto mode and is not receiving a signal, the light will remain off. Try setting the power switch on the back to ON if in the Auto setting.
Post back the status of your LED.
If don't bother the absence of the blue light and speaker operates correctly then just ignore it...nothing will happen just because a non-functioning L.E.D. IMHO.
It looks like you have posted this before. Unfortunately, I don't know what you have tried so I may be repeating some of your earlier troubleshooting.
The subwoofer needs its own power supply to function properly. if it isn't getting enough power, the sub will not work at all.
On the back of the unit, you should see a green LED when the power is turned on. Is this light on all of the time of does it fade / flicker? This would indicate the power supply is going bad and you need to replace it.
1. (STEADY ON) - RUN THE POWER FROM THE AMP TO THE POSITIVE LED TERMINAL THE NEGATIVE CAN BE RAN FROM THE NEGATIVE SPEAKER TERMINAL.
2. (INTERMITTENT; COMES ONE EVERY TIME THE BASS HITS) - RUN THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE WIRES FROM THE + AND - TERMINALS TO THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE TERMINALS OF THE LED LIGHTS.
Bought a S10.3 in jan/2010, LED died a month later. I've repaired it by myself. After inspecting circuit, I've found that their design puts almost 14V of reverse bias upon that poor blue LED. These components are not usually expected to sustain more than 5V of reverse polarization. So, in my opinion, there is a design flaw. To make a long lasting repair, you just need to insert a general purpose diode in series with the LED, such as an inexpensive 1N4148 ($0.05). And, of course, any readily available 3V, 5mm, through-hole round blue LED (I think crystal clear should be better).
I have the exact same problem with my S8.3 that I purchased a few months ago. It's just the blue LED that doesn't light up, otherwise it seems to output bass and the volume control works. Any suggestions?
I fixed my subwoofer. The resistor at R16 (right next to the fuse) was the fried component. I removed it and replaced it with a 13K ohm 5 watt metal oxide resistor (from Mouser Electronics if not available locally). Works fine now. I got the solution and the circuit schematic from an audio hobbiest at diyAudio.com. This is, evidently, a fairly common problem.
