Replace door cam kit for freezer side. Water is most likely coming from a stopped up defrost drain

  • 1 more comment
  • Rob Newton Nov 14, 2018

The cam kit, does that include the screws, doorstop and the freezer hinge bearing?

Also, where would I look to find the stopped up defrost drain?

    Thank you

Defrost drain would be under evaporator coils which are behind a removable panel on inside back freezer wall

    Awesome, thank you!

SOURCE: Frigidaire, ice on floor of freexer

check to see if the defrost drain is not frozrn over or stopped up
this is the only way that water can get into the freezer
frost could and melt but dont think that i would check the drain at the bottom of the rear freezer panel if you see ice it is stopped up for sure
if all is clear there go to the ice maker, have had some that are overfilling and runnig over the ice maker into the bottom of the freezer

SOURCE: side by side leaks out front door on freezer side

try checking the tube that water drains out , it could be plugged with crumbs or old partials of food and causing the problem, This has happened with my fridge at one time , affecting the defrost cycle of the freezer and dripping water out of the door, The tube was located under the crisper in the back of the inside of my fridge, Hope this solves your problem

SOURCE: Refridgerator door sags

Its a two person job. One person has to looses up the two hidges holding the door just slightly while the other person holds the door in place. Once in place tighten the screw/bolts for the hidges back up and check. If not aligned, redo it again until it is aligned and seals properly..
Good Luck!

SOURCE: water leaking onto the floor from freezer drain...

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. .

Freezer door does'nt shut all the way

If you notice one side of your Maytag side-by-side refrigerator is significantly higher than the other, you might want to raise or lower one of the doors. The refrigerator door is configured at the factory to be slightly higher than the freezer door. The weight of items on the door shelves sometimes cause the doors to sag slightly inward. Making a small adjustment to the freezer door leveling screws will correct minor amounts of sagging.
Things You'll Need3/8-inch hex head screwdriver 1
Position the refrigerator in the place you plan to keep it, and make sure the refrigerator is level front to back and side to side with a spirit level.

  • 2 Remove the base grille, located below the doors, by pulling from the sides. The leveling screws will be visible when the grille is removed.

Kenmore side by side water leaking from freezer

You can buy a kit from whirlpool. In the kit is a metal tab that mounts onto the defrost heater. It is long enough to go into the hole. When the heater comes on for defrost the heat transfers down to the hole and keeps it from getting plugged up with ice. Part number 819043

I have a top freezer model and every morning their is a small pool of water in front on the floor. I checked the bottom tray in the back and drip tube and they seem to be ok. I noticed in the door that...

These doors are not water cooled. Is there water in the drip pan? Likely not and the drain is froze over with ice. you will have to remove the rear panel inside the freezer and clean the drain. There is most likely ice under the freezer floor that needs removed also. Take your time and do not damage the styrofoam separator and air channels.

    Frigidaire leaking

the drain in the freezer compartment is frozen up you can remove all items from lower freezer and remove access panel on back of freezer compartment pick the ice out of the drain hole with a small screwdriver DO NOT USE SCREWDRIVER AROUND THE ALUMINUM COILS! once all ice is gone that you can see use hairdryer to blow into hole on medium heat. once it looks like it is gone take a small 1/4 plastic tubing and push down the hole to try to clear obstructions then run hot water down hole. if it still doesnt drain take rear access panel off of compressor area (back of refrig) look for drain hose and remove clamp take off and clean u might try this first. but you will have to remove ice from drain.

Refrigerator door pops open, frigidaire top

The refrigerator needs to be perfectly leveled side to side dn should pitch back slightly. Also look at the plane of the doors, that is to say that they should be squared to the cabinet. If they are sagging, you may need to adjust the hinges.

Frigidaire Side-By-Side Refrigerator Leaks Water on Floor

I don't have the same refrigerator, but had a similar issue with a GE. Melt the ice at the bottom of the freezer. I think the water comes from the auto defrost feature. There should be a hole at the back bottom of the freezer that water would go into, and run to an evaporator pan under the refrigerator. The tube may be blocked that allows this water to drain, so it is backing up in the bottom of the freezer, and overflowing through the front bottom of the freezer to your floor.
