SOURCE: tv has sound but no picture

I had similar problem with my Polaroid 42 inch. The screen would be fine for 10 minutes or so then go black. I found a work around that solved my problem and maybe you can to. What I did was remove the back panel of the TV. Make sure it is unplugged first. You should be able to see the electical board. Somewhere on the board may be a switch that says "Burn" or something with "Burn" in it. I set the switch to the "Burn" setting and the TV has worked fine ever since. Good Luck.

SOURCE: Westinghouse VR3215 has sound but faint picture only seen using a flashlight.

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

I have a Mitsubishi TV LT-55154 with no picture it has sound but no picture. The green light is solid.

If your Mitsubishi TV LT-55154 has no picture but has sound and the green light is solid, there are a few potential causes for this issue:
  1. Faulty backlight: The backlight in your TV is responsible for illuminating the screen. If the backlight is not functioning properly, it can result in a black screen while still producing sound. You can try shining a flashlight on the screen at different angles to check if you can see any faint images. If you can, it indicates a backlight issue. In such cases, the backlight unit may need to be replaced. Contact a professional technician or the manufacturer's support for further assistance.
  2. Loose or damaged cables: Check that all the cables connecting your TV to external devices (such as cable/satellite boxes, DVD players, or gaming consoles) are securely plugged in. Ensure that there are no loose connections or damaged cables, as this can lead to a loss of video signal.
  3. Incorrect input/source selection: Make sure that the TV is set to the correct input or source that corresponds to the device you want to watch. Use the TV remote to cycle through the available input options and see if the picture appears on any of them.
  4. Display settings: It's possible that the display settings on your TV have been inadvertently adjusted or misconfigured. Check the TV's menu options for any settings related to picture or display, such as brightness, contrast, or picture mode. Resetting these settings to their default values might help resolve the issue.
  5. Hardware malfunction: In some cases, a hardware malfunction within the TV, such as a faulty video processing unit or mainboard, can cause a loss of picture. In such situations, it's recommended to contact a professional technician or the manufacturer's support for further troubleshooting and potential repairs.
Remember to exercise caution when working with electronics, and if you are unsure about any steps or lack the technical expertise, it's best to seek professional assistance to avoid causing further damage to your TV.

Sony TV model XBR-65X930E. Recently, the Tv screen goes black (a short while after its turned on) while the sound goes on. can you please let me know what is the part that needs to replaced?

This sounds like a backlight issue....... If you shine a torch light into the screen do you see a faint picture? If yes then definitely a backlight issue but it could be the led backlights blown or the T-con board, further tests would be required to determine which.

Sound but no image on Hitachi 42pd5000

Two things need to be checked. The ballast board and the T-con board. Shine a flashlight on the screen with the TV on...If you see a faint picture moving, then the T-Con board is OK. The ballast board for the white backlight is bad. If you don't see a faint picture, then the T-con board is bad. Can the lamp be replaced for a Polaroid TLX03210B

You likely have a LCD set there which may likely use a back light inside to light the image, get the room as dark as you can and with a flashlight illuminate the screen from a angle, with set on if you can see the faint image on the screen of the program you have a Backlight issue'

1. Voltage not there or not being switched on for backlight.

2. Actual back light bad.

If the image can be seen with a flashlight one of the above is the issue and your "picture will appear very faintly" also suggests this.

Lcd flat panel, no picture

Most LCD sets use backlights---in a dark room with a flashlight look carefully with set on to see if VERY faint images can or cannot be seen--if see them the backlights are not on or not powered up.,

My lcd tv screen is all dark although i can see movements and the sound is loud and clear. i am also trying to go to menu the problem is the texts cannot be seen. how do i fix this?

If you see a very faint image the set may use backlights that provide the light source--typical on many LCD sets----if they do not come on or are very weak either the voltage source or the actual backlights may be the issue---to confirm this Google the model number with "specs" to see if it has the lights or not. I bet it does.

Use a flashlight to shine light near the screen in a 45 degrees angle when the TV is ON, press menu to see if you get fainted dark video in the background. fainted video indicates that the backlight is defective.
This type of failure could be due to a lower backlight inverter voltage as well.
