The error code SC546 that you're getting with your Ricoh Aficio 2022is related to unstable fusing temperature. There are two possible causes for this issue. These are, the thermistor is already defective and/or the crusted toner on the fuser roller. To reset this error code (SC564) you might to follow these steps:

1. First, press the yellow clear all button.
2. Then, select 107.
3. Hold the red stop button until the machine switches to SP Mode.
4. Afterwards, press the copy SP or system SP button.
5. You have yo shut your machine off and then turn it back on.

If after doing these steps and still you're encountering the issue you might need to remove the fuser and clean it. Also, you miht need to replace the thermistors. It's the black aluminum roll in the fuser unit.

The meaning of the error sc998 is the system software does not start within 60 sec.The cause for that is either the RAM, DIMM (software SD cards), firmware(system software) or the main controller is faulty or not connected properly.
Did you remove chip or SD card from the machine?

You can check the following.
1. hot roller thermistor is out of position or dirty.
2. Fuser lamp is broken.
3. Thermostat is open. (Like a thermal fuse, there SHOULD be continuity)
4. Clean and scrap clean the gold pins that connect into the copier. Sometimes they get corroded or bent slightly out of shape so they don't make contact with the terminals.

You'll need a tech on site for this one, but it may be difficult to source parts if required for this old box. One of the following situations has occured:

• Poor connection of CCD
harness
• Dirty optics
• Defective lamp regulator
• Defective main scanner IPU board
• Defective CCD

Hi Andreas: The fusing unit has not been reinstalled properly. There is a receptical on the back of the Fuser that mates with a plug in the machine when you install the part. the machine is telling you it did not detect the fuser. Undo the screws and remove it and reinset it again, makin sure that it seats properly. then you will need to reset the code. Go into SP Mode: Push in sequence; Clear-107-red stop button(hold this down until display changes and shows "copy etc"), turn machine off(using red power switch, wait 10seconds and turn back on. If you still get the error code the fuser still is not inserted correctly. Hope this helps.

PS: Black spots can also indicate a new drum is needed. It may have a small chip in the surface.
