SOURCE: ge top loader washer agitator does not work

To check the agitator. Start the washer into wash cycle. Once started Push down on top of agitator. If it catches some times or all of the time when pushing down, then then doggets are worn, under the agitator. You`ll have to remove the agitator to see these. If by pushing down on the agitator, nothing changes, Then you probably have a transmition problem. Check this and let me know what you find.

SOURCE: Daewoo Top loader washing machine water wont drain...

hi friend,
If your washer won't drain, check these:

It spins, but doesn't pump
It doesn't spin or pump
It pumps, but the water returns
It spins, but doesn't pump
If your washer spins but doesn't pump the water out, the drain line is probably clogged. In many
washers, a small sock or other piece of clothing can get between the clothes tub and the outer tub
that holds the water. If the clothing gets between the tubs, it may then get into the drain hose that's
attached to the pump--or even into the pump itself. If it's in the pump, you need to remove the
hoses
from the pump and pull the item out.

To remove the sock from the outer tub port, open the washer's main access panel and remove the
large-diameter rubber hose that connects the pump to the bottom of the outer tub. Then, using
needle-nose pliers, try to grab and remove the clothing through the port.

Sometimes you can't remove the stuck clothing from below. Then you have to remove the agitator,
top of the outer drum shield, and inner clothes tub. This isn't easy to do--and you may need special tools--so you might
be happier getting a qualified appliance repair technician to do the job.

If the drain line isn't plugged, the problem may be with your pump. Even if the pump appears to be
turning, the internal impeller may be broken. If so, you need to replace the pump.

It doesn't spin or pump
If your washer doesn't spin or pump water out but the motor is running, your washer probably
has a frozen pump pulley. If so, you need to replace the pump. To check the pulley, remove the
pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen
or stiff--replace it.

It pumps, but the water returns
If the water that pumps out of the machine goes back into the machine after the spin cycle, your
washer may be siphoning the water from a laundry tub that has a slow drain, back into the
washer. The usual remedy for this is to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is something stuck
in the drain?) Also, check for these problems:

* If the drain hose reaches more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub, cut off the excess.

* If your drain hose is lower than the washer's cabinet, install an air gap/siphon break assembly.

Can "ol" error because by spongy floor tiles or a move?

If you've already tried putting it on a piece of 3/4" plywood, try running it with a small load. If the error persists you could have dislodged one or more of the tub suspension springs so open the top (like the hood of a car) and check the 4 springs. If the unit is old and the springs are worn they can be replaced.

Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6600SBT Top Load Washer won't aggitate

My Whirlpool WTW6600 had the same problem. The tub no longer floated up and down on the center shaft, so it only spun, not agitated. You must remove the tub (with some effort) and lightly sand / clean the center shaft. Lube it lightly with wheel bearing grease so that after it is reassembled, you can pull the tub upward and feel about 1/2" movement. This will enable the proper gear assembly to engage. It can spin when it rests at the bottom of its travel, but once you fill the tub, it floats, moving upward, and engaging the agitation gear. Good Luck!

Tub barely spins

Yes Friend, You need to just replace the clutch assymbly. It looks like you know the mechanics of your machine well. I've included the complete instructions below to help others that may have the same problem. It's easy to replace the clutch assymbly on your machine. First, pop the cover off the top of your agitator and remove the bolt that holds it in place. Gently pull the agitator up and out of the machine. Now, remove the two screws that hold control panel in place and tilt back exposing the two metal clips that hold the cabinet in place. You will see some wires plugged into the cabinet, just unplug them. There are two clips, one on each side. Just pop these clips off and lift cabinet slightly from back and tilt forward. At this point you will be able to completely remove the cabinet. Once you have cabinet removed just set it aside. Now, just lay the washer on it's back. At this point you will see the water pump, motor, and transmission. Remove the pump by snapping off the two spring clips. The pump will slide right off the motor shaft. Now, remove the two screws that hold the two spring clips attached to motor. Unplug all the wires etc. and then snap the metal clips off motor. Lift motor straight up, it should slide right off. Now you will see three bolts holding the transmission in place, just remove these three bolts. Now, gently pull the transmission out of the washer and sit it in an upright possition. At this point you will see the clutch assymbly on the top of the transmission with the agitator shaft going through it. There is a spring clip holding the clutch in place be sure to wear eye protection. Just pop this spring out and remove the entire clutch and replace with new clutch assymbly. Re-assymble the washer and the problem you are encountering should be solved. Happy to help, Tim.

Assuming you have a top loader, because a front loader does not have an agitator, the spindle that holds the agitator securely in place has worn down to the poing that it won't turn. They are usually made of rubber and has grooves in it and fits into a the agitator. The grooves are worn out. Replace them from an appliance store and you should be in good shape.

There is a part between the motor and gearcase called a coupler, the clicking happens when it cracks. Easy way is to pull the machine foreward and tilt it back to expose the bottom. Clips hold a pump, has two hoses attached, then a motor, unclip wire harness on left and any other attached, mark these extra wires if it has them. The motor has two clips supported with two 1/4 in hex screws, Now you should see the coupler, a rubber donut and two three pronged plastic flanges attached at gearcase and motor. Use a 1/2 socket to flush the new coupler flanges on both sides and the rest is a experience.
