My Dynex 32 inch model # DX-32L152A11 won't power on.

I had a brand new Roku express plug in to it for approximately 6 or 7 months with no issues at all. Then all of a sudden my TV started acting weird and it would take me unplugging the Roku and turning off the power source to the TV. Can this be fixed or should I just count my losses and buy a new one?

I ended up replacing the TV. The sound was still awesome but what good is that when you have no picture. Lol

It was connected through one of the HDMI ports on the TV. I already replaced the TV anyway. Had I known about this site prior to spending the money I might have been able to save my TV. The good news is that I know now and will definitely be in touch next time I'm in a fix and need help.. it may save me a small fortune. Thanks again for all the support.

SOURCE: I just bought a new

Hello Debbie,

This is due to incorrect connections between the dish box and the TV. You may find that if you select another input (AV1) on the TV, you will have sound from the dish system, but no picture.

I suspect you are using an RCA type AV cable with red, white and yellow jacks on both ends. You've most likely connected the yellow jack to a socket labelled Y, Pb or Pr on the back of the TV and then selected the COMPONENT input on the TV.

If you are using a cable with red, white and yellow jacks, please make sure they are connected to the sockets on the back of the TV shown below. I've ringed the socket for the white jack in green for better visibility.

belectric_195.jpg

Once you've done this, select the AV1 input on the TV by pressing the INPUT button on the dynex remote, then use the arrow keys to highlight AV1 and press ENTER to select.

If this does not solve your problem, please let me know which type of cable you are using and the model number of your dish box. If you don't know the technical term for the type of cable you are using, please describe it as best you can, i.e. how many plugs/jacks are on each end of the cable and whether they are color-coded.

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to me by clicking on "Add a Comment" below your question.

SOURCE: dynex dx l-32 won't power up

I see so many here with no sound/no picture issues:

ISSUES:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signs of damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down the problem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the generic ones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don't put a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses a standby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined and some not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on the power/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--I attach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flat and have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating (saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs 7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buy and try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over. If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in this photo. 11_5_2012_6_10_04_pm.jpg

Finally bought anRCA antenna for my new Dynex TV.Nothing no signal,no way to scan for channels I can see.AGGH.Is it a lemon?

Which Dynex TV do you have? The manuals for most Dynex TVs are available from the product page. Start at http://www.dynexproducts.com/products/televisions.html . If you have an older Dynex that isn't on the main list, check under Discontinued Products. Alternatively search for your model. Then click on the Support tab to find the manual for that model.

For at least one Dynex TV (DX-32L152A11), the procedure to scan for channels is below.
To scan for channels, first make sure that the current input is set to TV. (Press the input button on the TV or the remote). Then press Menu and use the left/right arrows to select TV. Then press Enter or down arrow (the manual says the right arrow). Use the up/down arrows to select the entry to change. First, make sure that the Tuner Mode (first item) is set to Air (use the left/right arrows to change this). Press Menu to go back to the TV menu. Then go down to Channel Scan and press Enter. You may need to confirm the channel scan and press Enter again. Wait for the scan to be completed.

On a discontinued model (DX-32L151A11), the procedure is slightly different. With the input set to TV, press Menu. Select the Channel submenu and press Enter or down arrow. Set the TV mode to Antenna (use the left/right arrows to change the value). Then press the up/down arrows to reach AutoScan. Press Enter. Move cursor to highlight Yes and press Enter again. Wait for the scan to be completed.

I hope this helps.

(There were some Dynex monitors built. They usually do not have a coaxial antenna in port since they didn't have tuners.)

No sound

Let verify first to narrow down to where the problem can be. First, check the on screen sound set up menu to make sure the speakers are not set to OFF. If the setting is OK, then attach the powered PC speakers to the Audio Line out RCA jacks to see if you can get the sound there, if you do, then the problem can be in the power amp circuits, if you do not get the sound at RCA jacks, then the problem can be in the sound processor circuit. Please post back what you find
Typical repair for LCD TV is from $150 and up. Dynex is a cheaply made brand.
