If the TV goes in standby, then it is in protection mode.
Ensure also that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem on DVD with no receiver box
connected.
Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.
The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible causes.
1The
internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic
charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read
by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the
protection circuit.
2 The protection circuit detected a wrong
voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in
, starting the flashing light.
If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.
If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.
If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

On LCD Pay
particular attention at inverter and power board, power board can be
inspected looking for bulged or leaking capacitors, then tested with a
multimeter. The inverter is more difficult to test , there is need to
read voltages, should be done by a tech. Also the LCD controller board can cause same problem
On Plasma, test Sustain (Ysus/Zsus) / Buffer boards , cables to plasma, digital board and power board.
On Rear Projection : check lamp, lamp ballast, power board, and convergence.
On CRT TVs, check ballast , flyback transformer, CRT, Tuner, Convergence.

most times then not it's the capacitors on your power board that blew there for not supplying the tv with enough power if you open it up and check the capacitors it should be leaking some kind of liquid or the tops have bubbled up. its an easy fix cost>>2 dollars each

hey gandylt, i had the exact same problem happen to me acouple days ago. i bought an additional working xbox 360, and i decided to up grade the cooling. anyway let get to the point.
There were three things that i did that solved the problem.
1.) I removed all heatsinks to find that i did an crappy job on applying the artic silver, it was everywhere. so one thing u want to do is make SURE THERE IS NO THERMAL compound on the motherboard PERIOD! the thermal compund can act like conductors, therefore if its all around the motherboard it can actually BRIDGE two different flow routes on the motherboard which isnt good at all. So Clean the mother board with 90%+ Alcohol.
2.) Second i reapplied the artic silver 5 in an very thin layer! its important not to have too much.
3.) Third. i didnt tight the heatsink bolts so tight like i did the First time. tight them but dont tight them too much.
Those were the exact 3 thing i did to get my 360 recovered from the following error. good luck guys!

just spoke to Samsung support and it turns out that the freeview tuner had froze and needed resetting. To do this put TV on standby and then push in series these buttons on the remote: 'info, menu, mute, power' the TV will then turn itself on and display a menu. Press the 'down arrow' untill you've highlighted option 12 - 'reset' and then press the 'right arrow' to enter the option. TV will turn off and when you turn back on it will start in 'plug & play' mode as if new. Set the time and country options and then it will perform a complete scan. I've just retuned mine and all back to normal. Hoorah!!!! :-)
