I got an FE code. I replaced the hot water and cold water intake valves and the pressure switch. The washer is still overfilling. What am I missing? Thanks!

It is Model WM2688HWMA.

SOURCE: FE code water overfills due to faulty water valve

Water valve is stuck open and needs to be replaced.  The best way to check if the water valve is the problem is to remove the top cover, run the machine to get the water running.  While the water is filling, remove the connector to the water valve that is filling.  If the water continues to run without the connector, the valve needs to be replaced.  If the water stops flowing when disconnected, you may have a control board problem and will need it to be replaced.

SOURCE: FE code displays

Yes, the water valves are easy to locate and replace.  Just remove the top panel to get access to them.  There are 2 of them.  You need to know which one to replace before ordering the correct part from LG.

SOURCE: Fisher Paykel GWL11 Cold Water Not Flowing

you can swap the hot and cold valves over and see if this fixes the problem as it sound like your cold valve is faulty but not the hot valve.

SOURCE: I just installed a Moen

This is taken from the Moen manual. You can download it here:

Balance Spool Maintenance
The precise and instantaneous pressure control illustrated has been
achieved through the balancing spool, which has been manufactured to
exacting tolerances.
During construction or valve installation, foreign material such as solder
flux, pipe cuttings sand, dirt or wood is unavoidably introduced into the
water system. Occasionally, however, rare, these foreign materials can
cause the balancing spool to become stuck temporarily between the
rough-in and trim-out operations. If this happens, it will be apparent at
the trim-out test, in that the valve will deliver only a small trickle of water
or it will deliver only hot or cold water. If this occurs, proceed as follows:
1. Make sure that both the hot and cold water service lines are ON. Also,
make sure that both screwdriver stop-check valves are open. The valve
WILL NOT OPERATE unless both supplies are ON.
2. If the valve still does not function properly, turn off both the hot and
cold supplies and remove the balancing spool, using a wide blade
screwdriver. The inner piston of the balancing spool should shake
back and forth freely. If this is not the case, jar the spool on either
end to remove the foreign material and free the spool. When the
spool is free, replace it; turn ON both water supplies and the valve
will function properly. If you are unable to free the inner piston,
replace the entire spool.

Testimonial: "Thank you, I now understand that both hot and cold water supplies must be on for the valve to work."

LG WASHER WM2487HRMA FE CODE

Yes, it's one of the water valves. Try a cold water only wash and see if it is error free. If yes then the hot water valve is issue. Good luck.

Lg model lds5540 smells, will not clean properly and doesn't seem to have enough water during cycle. also occasionally shows the fe error code. ??? any thoughts?

WATER OVER FLOW ERROR // Water continuing to enter machine
The manufacturer has assigned this error or fault code to indicate that the washer is overfilling due to a defective water inlet valve. The valve is not repairable and will need to be replaced. You can check it with a multimeter to confirm, it should show continuity on both hot and cold pins. try exchanging the how and cold water hoses, cold on hot and hot on cold, see what happens. have u tried running only cold water or hot water wash? as for the smell could be a build up of detergent or frabic softner, try washer running machine with hot water and vinigar to clean out also check inlet valve for dirt build up

FE code on LG washer.

The FE code is an excessive water supply if the water is continuously running into the machine it may be due to a failing inlet valve or stuck float switch since you mentioned the drain pump filter being changed it could be that the old filter was restricting the flow.

Cold water does not shut off when washer fills - will over flow - hot water will shut off when washer is full ...

It's overfilling If your washer is overfilling, check these: Water-inlet valve Water-level switch Water-inlet valve A defect in the water-inlet valve may mean that it's no longer able to shut off completely when the electricity has been turned off to it. If this occurs, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub. In time, the water may accumulate substantially. If this happens, you need to replace the valve. Water-level switch A defect--or an obstruction--in the water-level switch may mean that it can't tell the water to shut off. So the machine overflows. This switch senses the water level in the clothes tub. It's usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. You can either clear any obstruction in the tube or replace the water-level switch.

Water level issues on the Whirlpool washer.

It's overfilling If your washer is overfilling, check these:

Water-inlet valve
Water-level switch
Water-inlet valve A defect in the water-inlet valve may mean that it's no longer able to shut off completely when the electricity has been turned off to it.

It's underfilling The water-level switch regulates your washer's fill volume. This switch is usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. If the switch is defective, it may prematurely signal the water to shut off. If so, you probably need to replace the water-level switch.

The water temperature is incorrect The temperature of the incoming water determines the temperature of the water in your washer. You get either hot, cold, or a mix of the hot and cold water that's currently available to the machine. So if the cold water that enters the machine is very cold--or if the hot water entering the machine is very hot--the warm water is affected.

If you live in a Northern climate, unless you adjust the hot and cold water taps that supply water to your washer, the warm water supplied to your washer is usually hotter during the summer months and colder during the winter months.

Top load roper washer water will not cut off after filling machin

The water valve is the part where your water hoses connect.

Replace the water valve if the water is constantly running after the machine has been turned off.

If it only overfills during the fill cycle, check your water level switch and connecting plastic air pressure hose.
