Check this first. There’s a little switch on the left side of the memory card. Be sure it is not in the LOCK position. Your camera will not see the card if it is.

Some of the pins at the memory reader are damaged. Or the PCB is faulty. Both scenaries need to go to a repair center.

This error message means that the memory card is write-protected. To take a picture, turn off the camera. Then insert a new card or change the storage location to internal memory

SOURCE: "Memory card cannot be read"

My camera used to do the same thing--once I got the pictures off my card, I left it in the card reader, right clicked on removable media (my computer + removable storage) chose to "format" and formatted it on my computer. It seems to have fixed the problem, and my camera now reads it fine. I tried to format it on the camera before, but it didnt work.

SOURCE: Why can't you use 8GB memory card in Z710

I have a kodak z710 camera with a 2 gig card in it. I was wanting to get a 4 gig sdhc and i wasn't sure if the HC would work with this camera. HC stands for high capacity which means it allows the camera to load files on to the card faster. this may be the problem the kodak may not be HC compatable. but as i have said i have a 2 gig and it works fine with that. and i have a friend that has a 4 gig in thiers but once again i don't think it is HC so i would exchange the card if you can for just a regular SD/MMC card or SD card

If a pin got damaged, then a trip back to a Nikon repair center is the only way to properly repair it. It may be still under warranty if it's less than 3 years old.

Import pictures Nikon D3100 get access denied

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Nikon Transfer or Picasa.

I am unable to trasfer edited photos from my Nikon D3100 camera to computer

Remove the SD memory card from the camera and insert the SD memory into an USB memory card reader. Plug the memory card reader into the USB port of your computer, the computer will see this as an external storage device, you can then open the image folder and copy the photos from this folder to your computer.

Nikon d3100 showing no sd card inserted message even after inserting it..please help

The only thing I can think of remove the SD Card, start camera, and go into the menu, check to make sure there are no pictures on the internal memory, if there are! erase them and restart camera and power off, re-install card and hopefully you are good to go. If no change! have the camera shop run a quick check.

I left my nikon D3100 outside with the tripod and i forgot to get it,then suddenly it got wet from the rain, what will i do?

Remove the battery imediately, the memory card and the lens. Place the camera body, lens and memory card in a warm dry and place for several days to dry out completely.
When the camers is dry, insert the battery, lens and memory card, turn on the camers and set the date and time.
If the camers does not work charge the battery and try again.
If it still does not work then you need to send it to the Nikon service centre for repair.

I just got my Nikon D3100 and it wont turn on..why?? i didnt buy a memory card yet..doest it need memory card to turn on??

The battery ships in an uncharged state. Slip the battery into the charger until the it indicates it is fully charged. Install into the camera. The camera should power up without an SD/SDHC/SDXC type memory card installed - and should flash [-E-] in the viewfinder alerting you to the fact that no memory card is inserted.

I believe that the memory card was not formatted to the camera before using so, the pictures were corrupted and unable to read in either the computer or back in the camera. What you need to do is make sure the memory card is unlocked here is a diagram
