My Denon DCD 1500II worked well until the transport developed problems. I replaced both belts, it now works fine, but there is no audio. The display works and the laser tracks ok. What to look for?

Check for bad connections or soldering. You could have pulled a plug out or damaged it when replacing the belts.

Hi,

This could be a possible worn laser pick-up problem.

SOURCE: Digital audio cuts out.

Hi,
I have same DD 5.1 tiny "bursts" problem with satellite HD channel. It is probably problem with Crystal DSP (German site): http://forum.digitalfernsehen.de/forum/showthread.php?t=89328&page=3
"Denon bietet Lösung für EX-Flag-Problem bei den Modellen AVR-1602 und AVR-1802 an

07.08.2002(cr)

SOURCE: machine completely dead no life signs at all

Hello,
It is very likely that during the transportation, a loose contact could have been created. Now whatever be the case, since it does not turn on at all, the Laptop will have to be opened and the motherboard checked. Get a good technician to check the board for you and with the appropriate tools, it is very likely that your problem will be solved.

All the best.

SOURCE: Denon Stereo audio cassette deck DR-M30HX traction prob thin tape

Belts for decks are universal, there are plenty of places on the web selling them. Parts for a Denon from 25 years ago is another matter. However I think you might need only the belts, as the longer tapes speed problems suggest that it's the load that's causing the belts to struggle. All you need to do is measure the diameter of any belts for replacement. HOWEVER before you remove them make a note, or photographer, how and where they fit.
Use Servisiol Video 40 to clean the rollers and head.

Testimonial: "Thanks for your reply. Hopefully it has set me on the right track. (Was worried capstans or motors were the problem). "

Have a brand new Denon DP-300F turntable that worked fine for the first two recods. Now when I use it the records sound as if they are playing in slow motion. Could there be an issue with the belt eve

It could, but it could be caused by something stuck inside it, perhaps from the packing or some other bizarre thing connected with it being transported to your home.

I have a dcd 1650 and it won't read discs, but sometimes it does, I have checked and cleaned lens

A Laser Lens malfunction will cause this to happen and is a common problem. This can be fixed at home if a new Laser Lens or Laser Lens w/ transport can be found for your unit. I used ebay to purchase a new Laser Lens for my Denon DVD 5900. The part is also sometimes available from parts stores like Parts Express for a premium, $100+ Parts Express vs $17 ebay in my case. I would recommend purchasing a FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL from an online vendor. The manual will cost between $10 - $20 and is downloadable. The installation is very straight forward. The part that might not be clear would be the grounding shorts on the new Laser Lens. THE NEW LENS COMES SHORTED AND AFTER THE PART IS INSTALLED IN THE PLAYER THE GROUND SHORTS MUST BE UNSOLDERD FOR IT TO WORK CORECTLY. The part comes this way to protect the Laser from static shock damage.
The repair on a Denon DVD 5900 cost $30 and took about an hour to complete.

I have a Denon dcd 600 cd player. Old but little used and in good condition. Used to put in a cd, close the drawer and the entire display would light up, the disc having not been read at all. After...

it's most likely the belt that drives the cd tray has perished over time and certainly if you tilt the player to help it, that's just gravity giving it a push. replace the belt and all should be ok. hope this helps?

Denon DCD-920 CD Player. Display lights up with a series of 0"s but disc doesn't play

I had exactly the same problem with my Denon DCD-910. Fixing it is easy, but it took me a while to find out;

In the power supply +10V and -10V unstabilized lines (in front of the 7805 and 7905 +5V and -5V regulators on the heatsink),

there are 2 ICP-N15 devices (IC protectors: very fast acting electronic fuses 0.6A). PCB component print is IC502 and IC503 if I remenber well. They tend to deteriorate over time and break, or a current peak could have made them tripping.

The +10V/-10V (+13/-13V really) is used for driving the loading/spindle/sliding motors and focus/tracking coils ONLY. +/-5V was still OK, that's why you can still see the display.

They have a TO92 transistor housing, but only 2 leads. ICP-N15 are hard to find; You could also use ICP-F15, but these have a different housing.

You could order the original ICP-N15 at utsource.net
An alternative could be to mount 2 polyswitches (also called multifuse), a PTC type current limiting and recoverable circuit breaker, like Bourns MF-R065, rated 0.65 A

I replaced them with 2 radial 800mA PCB solder mount fuses (1$/pc), and everything works fine again. Yet another piece of excellent equipment not to be thrown away ;-)

You have to unmount the PCB from the CD player housing (about 8 screws and disconnect all 10 connectors) to be able to replace the fuses.
While it is disassembled, check for broken solderings, especially on high power devices ( like voltage regulators mounted on heatsink or power transistors)

I hope it works for you too.
