Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.
Dyson cordless and handheld vacuums include a digital motor, which is engineered to make a pulsing noise to let you know if a blockage is preventing the airflow from passing through the machine. This may be due to an obstruction in the floor tool, wand or bin inlet.
I'm not sure from your post which model you own, as 65 air watts is the suction level on Boost mode, rather than the model number. The model number will begin 'DC--, followed by two numbers. If you visit
http://www.dyson.com and click Support, you'll be able to select your machine from the handheld or cordless lists. Our troubleshooting guides will then walk you through each of the steps needed to check for and clear any blockages.
I'm confident clearing any blockages will ensure your machine continues to work as normal. If you would like any further advice you're welcome to call our experts directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).
