sounds like bad capacitors on the power board. Very common problem. I would look at the caps if any appear even slightly rounded on top they are bad. They should be perfectly flat on top any puffing up means replace that cap.
All you need to do is to go in the audio settings and turn "ON" the AUTO volume option . This will help all your channels to have a similar volume , so you won't be surprised by sudden increase in volume.
You have to do the universal way which involves: 1) turn on tv and dvr 2) press tv button + select, hold till the io button stays lit (5seconds) 3) once io button is lit, press up and down channel buttons and flip through them until the tv turns off. 4) press mute, this should turn the tv on. 5) press tv button to save the settings (turn off tv)
