I have a code 56 on the panel of my Frigidaire side by side refrigerator. I unplugged the unit and plugged back in but the code is still there. None of the buttons work on the panel.

Diane - Sorry I don't have a Frigidare but check out this site - I have heard of this but your error code could actually be 5b which is the best that they can do to show a Sabbath Day setting that the frig is designed with

SOURCE: Samsung side-by-side refrig is not staying cold

Look for signs of frost build up on back freezer panel. If there is build up then it has a defrost problem. I haven't had much experience with samsung but I beleive it has a fuse in the defrost circuit on the evaporator and that may be the defrost problem.

SOURCE: model rs2533sw panel not reseting after being unplugged

I had the same problem (panel would not start up - just flashed one dash after a power outage).

The solution above: pressing the top two buttons for 12 seconds (Power Freeze and Power Cool buttons) reset the panel and everything is working fine now.

Thank You!

My side by side frigidaire was giving me a H1 code so i unplugged it for 3 days and as soon as i plugged it back in it gave me the H1 code. How do i fix this problem?

HI error means unit has detected temps are too high in either fridge or freezer. Since you’ve already unplugged it and code came back, you’ll have to determine what’s causing the temperature problems

Accidently entered incorrect code in temperature control pad and now the panel is frozen and registers 56 degrees on both fresh and frozen Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator FGHN2844LF2.

You have entered the control into "Sb," which is "Sabbath mode."
Hold the temp up and temp down buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds and the "56" should disappear...

I have a frigidaire PHSC239DSB5 That I unplugged to clean. Once the cleaning was done, I plugged the unit back in and it does not cool. I have turned off and on the cooling system. I hear the fan...

Good Morning friend, thanks for your post!

From what you have described you unplugged your Frigidaire refrigerator to clean it and now it is not cooling. You could have a possible short within the control panel or wiring harness. I would recommend performing a reset on your refrigerator and you can do that by disconnecting the power for at least ten minutes.
If that does not jump start your compressor you may want to make sure it is not in demo mode or the control is locked you should be able to notice any error codes on the panel. If you need additional help I would recommend contacting a professional technician for proper diagnosis and repair. -Matt

"OP" what is the meaning of this code refrigerator frigidaire

Good Morning friend, thank you for your post!

I see that your Frigidaire refrigerator is displaying an "OP" error code and you want to know what it means. An "OP" could stand for open thermistor. This could be a possible problem with your thermistor or control panel. In any case that it is a false error code I would recommend performing a reset on your refrigerator and you can do that by unplugging the power cord for roughly ten minutes. If that does not help resolve your issue I would suggest consulting with a professional technician for proper diagnosis. Hopefully this is helpful information. -Matt

The control panal on freezer door says 56-56 will not despence water or ice

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that you are receiving a 56 56 code on the display of your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# GLHS269ZDB. I also see that it is not dispensing ice or water, even though you have reset it by unplugging it. The 56 56 is actually SB SB. This tells me that your refrigerator is in Sabbath mode. To exit the Sabbath mode, press and hold the down arrow and the plus sign, simultaneously for 5-10 seconds or until the display changes. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your refrigerator status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

Control panel is locked up and displaying the numbers 56 56. Both compartment lights are out, water and ice not dispensing. Could it just be a door switch?

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that your Frigidaire refrigerator, is having trouble with the ice dispenser, control panel, and both interior lights went out. I also see that the numbers 56 56 are displayed on your panel. If the numbers are showing Sb, this tells me it is in the Sabbath mode. To get out of this mode you will need to press and hold the down arrow on the freezer side and the up arrow on the refrigerator side simultaneously for 5-10 seconds. If this does not work, I suggest resetting your appliance. You can do this by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. Restore power and check the control panel as well as the ice dispenser and lights. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your washer status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

Samsung double door refrigerator/freezer is not holding the tempature in the refrigerator. When you attempt to reset the temperature and press "power cool" nothing... temp remains around 56 The freezer...

I just had (have?) this same problem. I called out the repair man and in the end he suggested that I buy a new fridge because of all the problems reported with my model (RS2555SL) on the internet. Anyway, after a while I heard what sounded like a fan trying to spin on the fridge side. I unplugged the unit, removed the inside back panel on the fridge side. The entire coils and the fan had iced over. I removed all the ice, plugged the unit back in and it is now working. I will still replace this unit because I probably only corrected the symptom but the problem remains.
