SOURCE: Dyson DC07 works and cleans fine, but motor makes loud screaching sound.

If the screeching noise is happening at all times, it is most likely a motor failure; which unfortunately can only be resolved by complete replacement of the motor.
If it's a loud ratchety-screeching type sound, and is only occurring when the brush is set to carpet, it is most likely due to an obstruction of the brushroll or a problem with the clutch. Ensure that the brushroll can spin free, look for anything physically blocking it. Check the bearing ends on the brushroll, they can melt and cause the brushroll to not spin effectively. If neither of those two things resolves the problem, the clutch most likely needs replacement.

SOURCE: I have a dyson hand held that shuts off after just

yeap..... i just found a fix for this ,, its mad how easy it is to fix as well...and it works 100%,,,
now dyson implemented a filter magnetic switch if u take your filter off you will see a small magnet in the corner,, u will notice where the magnet is behind it is rased platic,, now,,that the problem on the main board the transistor that picks up magentic signal from the filter is dud,!
dont ask me why it happens,, its a pain i know.,.
now take off collection pot for dust now take battery off.

now where the serial number is theres 2 hex screws that need taking out..

now u will see a small pcb board.. remove with one tiny security screw holding it in,, once removed pull both red plug off thats the digital motor plug.. and white plug which is vcc..to battery,, once u have done this pull the board down and back gently. as there is a long bit of board that goes up the back of the dyson plastic be very carefull pull this out.. now the long and thin pcb board that is hidden is what we need there is a tiny transistor,,, we need to remove this carefully..once removed,, we solder a thin wire from 2 point A+C need to be soldered together with a thin piece of wire, it will not harm the motor.. as long as u keep it clean,,

these points corolate to the transistor,,

A

B C

SOLDER AND A+C WITH A FINE PIECE OF WIRE NOW,, AND WALLAH... fixed put it all back together again,,, charge the battery,, and your away,,, working again,, if not u have other faults.. but 99% fix this with flashing red led,,,!!

SOURCE: how to replace motor on Dyson DC08 vac

Hi there,
I have made a video showing how to replace the motor on a Dyson DC08. If you follow the instructions you should be able to do it. If you find the video helpful please give me a thumbs up or a comment.
If you find you need parts for this procedure I would recommend Vacuumspot or Nelson Vacuums
Dont forget to let me know how you go!.

The brushes on my Dyson V6 sweeper attachment won't turn despite being fully charged.

If it's in warranty, call Dyson. If it's not, take it to your local vac shop for diagnosis.

I am getting surges when operating the vacuum. What can this be?

Hi there,

As the other user suggested, this change in volume or a pulsating sound is indicative to a blockage.

Have a quick look at this video if you haven't been able to resolve it yourself.

If you continue to have difficulty, please give the Dyson Helpline a call on 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA), 0800 298 0298 (UK). Our experts will be happy to talk you through some further diagnostic checks when you have your machine easily to hand.

My Dyson DC35 stalls. I've thoughly clean it, so it's not a clog problem

1st make sure battery is fully charged.
Next, wash the filter, just follow the instructions in the manual.
If the filter is clogged the motor will try to run but then cut out to protect the motor from damage.

Dyson hand held vacuum starts and stops though fully charged

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

Most Dyson vacuums have a built in safety system that stops the machine if it begins to overheat. This usually happens because the filter needs washing or your machine is blocked. If your machine turns off on its own, unplug it and leave it for at least an hour to cool down. Remember to check the filter and look for blockages before re-starting.

You can purchase a wide variety of high quality Dyson replacement parts for your Dyson vacuum direct from Think Crucial with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com readers, use code: FIXYA10

While vaccuming it just stopped. Tried another outlet and checked power cord. Did find tube clogged with a dirt clog but no motor strain heard. Cleaned it out, Still not running

on the back of most vac's , u will find a red butten, use that to reset the vac. but even if that works u can avoid this usely buy ajusying the vac to a higher set . that helps reduse strian that the belt gets.
thanks
