Remove the memory card. Reset the camera to default settings (Reset All in the Setup Menu). Don't worry, it won't erase any photos. Try taking a picture in a well-lit area at a moderate distance, with the camera resting on something to keep it still. If it still looks blurry, transfer to the computer and view it there. If that's not blurry, it's the LCD display. If it is, then it's the internal focusing system. Locate your receipt and call Polaroid for service.

Polaroid i835 picture blurry in viewfinder and resulting picture

  1. Slow Shutter Speed

    • Always shoot with plenty of light
    • Shoot with flash (and ensure subject is close enough for the flash to illuminate them!)
    • Use a tripod
  2. Unfocused

    • Ensure subject is at least as far away as the minimum focus distance for your camera - 3 feet is a good rule of thumb for most Polaroid cameras

I have a nikon camera and indoor pictures come out blury

The most likely cause is a slow shutter speed, leading to image motion and camera motion.
There's generally less light indoors than outdoors under the sun. This means that the camera needs more time to gather enough light to form the image. If the camera moves during this time then the picture blurs. No matter how carefully you hold the camera, you can't hold it still for more than a small fraction of a second. Try putting the camera on a tripod or a tabletop and see what happens.
Also, the longer time allows for subjects (such as people) to move. Again with the camera on a tripod or tabletop, see whether people blur while the furniture comes out sharp.
Another way to combat the blur is to add more light. If all the subjects are more or less the same distance from the camera and not too far away, you can use the flash.

I love my camera, but most of my pictures turn out blurry in places, unless the subject is standing perfectly still.

Hi. When parts of the subject are moving it is normal for the subject to tend to be be blurred in those places. Blurring is minimised if you take pictures in bright light because the 'exposure' (the time needed for the sensor to collect enough light to take the picture) is less. Also the 'sensitivity' of the sensor can be increased by reducing the ISO setting in the menu so that the sensor needs less time to take the picture. However ISO settings higher than 200 tend to more and more make the image a bit blotchy. The 'aperture' is also relevant and F2 (wide open) lets in more light than say F5.6 (narrower), so helps to reduce blurring too. Mainly you rely on bright light to minimise blurring if the subject moves, but there is also a 'sports' scene mode which might help. Indoors, you more often need to use Flash to get a good picture by providing more light, but flash does not usually reach far enough to have much effect out of doors, unless the subject is close by. In 'auto' mode the settings look after themselves but have a good look at the Instruction Manual and experiment with 'manual' settings to find out how the camera works and read a few beginner's aricles to make things more interesting. Most of all have fun! Regards

I need to take close up photos ie approx 8-10cm away from subject matter. I have gone to the Scene mode and input close up but picture is blurred. do you have any suggestions please

There should be a button on your camera with a flower icon...if so, this is the "macro" button and should let you get as close as your want.

How do you take a picture of a fast movement?

It depends on the effect you want.
  • To freeze motion, you need either a fast shutter speed, or a fast flash in a dark environment. In less than bright light you may not be able to get a fast enough shutter speed to stop the action. Increasing the camera's sensitivity to light by increasing the ISO will help some.
  • You can blur the motion by using a slower shutter speed and a stable camera. Set a slow shutter speed and put the camera on a tripod or other stable surface, and you can get things like streaking car taillights and star trails. How slow a shutter speed depends on the speed of the subject.
  • You can pan with the subject. Move the camera with the subject, and keep it moving even while the display blanks out while taking the picture. This will keep the subject sharper while blurring the background to lend a sense of motion to the picture.
  • It's either to freeze motion if the subject is moving straight toward or away from you than if it's moving across your field of vision.

PORTRAIT SETTING ON Canon Powershot A710 IS GIVES EXACTLY SAME PHOTO AS ON AUTOMATIC. NEED I ACTIVATE SOMETHING ELSE TO GET A BLURRED BACKGROUND?

Portrait provides extra sharp focus on the subject. It also opens the aperture some, and may in SOME cases give you a blurred backbround depending on the distance of the subject and background to the camera.

If outdoors, consider setting the camera to manual flash so that it will lighten the subject. If indoors, consider turning off the flash. You may need to provide better external lighting on the subject, or use a tripod and ask the subject to hold still during the picture.

Try increasing the zoom (best is to set it to maximum), and then adjust your distance from the subject to get as close as possible. Note that you still might be standing relatively far away because of the zoom.

Another way to experiment further with focus and blurred backgrounds is to use aperture priority (Av) mode on your dial. Use the right/left button to set the lowest "f-number" on your screen. The lower the number, the greater the aperture. All other functions of your camera will automatically compensate. Again, use max zoom in taking closeups with low "f-numbers". Also experiment with the manual focus to pay particular attention to achieving sharp focus on your subjects eyes.

You have a very capable camera. It can do what you're thinking of. You just need to practice with it. It's digital, experiment with the above techniques. Throw away the bad pics and keep the good, noting which technique worked best for the lighting and situation.

Autofocus blury

If you would like to reduce the blurring, please check the following before taking a picture:

1 Distance
- When the distance between the camera and the subject is too close, the strength of the light can cause the picture to overexposed and be blurred. On the contrary, if the distance is too far, the beam is too weak to shed enough light on the subject. Allow yourself enough space between you and your subject.

2 Shutter
- If you press the shutter before the flash is fully charged,
the flash will not be able to emit enough light and therefore
the image can be blurred.

3 Surrounding Light
- Use the fill-in flash mode to create a balanced shot when
the surrounding light is very bright.

4 Backlight
- Use the backlight control feature when the background
is brighter than the subject.

5 Cleaning
- Clean the lenses with a smooth piece of cloth.

6 ASR (Advanced Shake Reduction)
- Put in ASR mode to prevent any blur

7 Power Reset
- Turn off camera
- Remove batteries for a minute
- Reload batteries
- Turn on camera

Try to do the MASTER RESET.
- Press on MENU button
- Press on the right button until you see SETUP 2
- Scroll down until you see RESET
- Press the right button to pick up on YES or NO
- Press on OK/MENU button for changes to be saved

Turn off camera after the settings
have been changed to refresh the camera.

If it still does not work, try calling the Manufacturer so they could assist you on where to send it in for SVC.
