Hi, you may have to view your Settings, and look at the Picture Settings, or Mode. You should be able to change the quality of your screen view. Some TVs have the option of Dynamic, -Standard, -Natural,- and Movie. Each has a various picture quality, some darker some brighter. I hope this sorts it out. Cheers

Open up the front of the set and find the screen controls and perform a grey scal alighnment by adjusting the red , blue , and green screen controls but be carefull and make sure you adjust them evenly or the picture will not look right. Good Luck

SOURCE: JVC Projection Television HD 52G886

Hello jenniferjz20,

This problem seems like it may be related to the HV section or the video section. The HV section would effect the voltage at the ancde of the CRTs, while the video section would effect the video level at the cathode of the CRTs. My experience tells me that the HV section is more then likley the cause. I would suggest that if you have a HV probe use it to test the HV level on each of the CRTs this will tell you if the HV section is working correctly. Then test the video signal level using an oscilloscope on the CRT socket at the pins corresponding to the video input (Cathode).

If you do not have the equipment to do this nor a background in electronics I would suggest that you have a TV technician repair this for you.

I hope this helps
Thank you,

JVC HD56G647 TV was working fine. Made a popping noise and now we have no picture or sound. Both lights on the front are flashing in unison. Help!

The popping noise is not a good sign. You definitely have a shorted horizontal IC and probably a bad flyback transformer. You will find several bad capacitors that contributed to this problem. The cost of repair will be more than your depreciated TV is worth. Sorry..look for a new one. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

Sorry to tell you but JVC is a well-known un-reliable brand and if it's cheap, probably even worse. U may have screen burn from leaving a games console on while plugged into the tv, even if its not showing the game, it will burn it onto the screen. :(

Picture getting dark

My jvc 27" tv was so dark I could hardly see any night scenes, even with the bright all the way on. If you push the sleep button, let go, then hold down the video and display (together), the service menu will come on. Scroll down to #7 (too dark) and adjust the brightness there. Works immediately. Good luck.

Picture is very dark

Is there a simple fix for this, yes The picture is very dark it is mostly due to 1 power supply output is low. 2 voltage on crt g2 pin is low. 3 video output supply is low. 4 some components in luminance section might be defective or loose. 5 finally crt getting weak but as you have bought in 2004 so possibility is rear. good luck

The picture is very dark

Unfortunately, there is no easy fix for this. If it were a rear projection TV, I'd suggest a new bulb. Even on a Plasma there are things that can be done. But on a CRT, the repair for a dark screen usually costs more than replacing it.
