We took the back off and found on the power supply board, a brown spot near the top capacitor looks. After removing the board, it appears the mosfet mdd7n20c has fried. Will any 200v 5a mosfet be able to replace it? Or do I need to find a magnachip replacement?
SOURCE: No POWER
How many times does the POWER led flash per second? (Dont worry about the OPC).
1x (steady constant blink) = Lamps or inverters
2x = Power Supply
3x = Main Unit
If i am reading it correctly, looks like the POWER led is flashing 2x, which means it is a power supply failure. Either way, your TV needs to have a board replaced, there isn't anything you can do to fix it yourself. Try locating your local sharp authorized service center to repair your TV (1-800-237-4277)
SOURCE: Sharp Aquos LC-C3242U LCD screen go's black after power on.
I have (had) the exact same problem with my Sharp LC40C32U. I purchased it at CostCo 1 1/2 years ago. Because they changed their return policy I thought I was out almost a $1,000 but decided to ask them if they could do anything. Wouldn't you know they had an extended warranty that was still in affect. I called their service people and spent over an hour on the phone with them. After going through all the troubleshooting steps they arraigned for an in home repair (free of charge).The technician that came new exactly what the problem was and how to fix it. The kicker is no parts were bad, over time the 2 grounding points on one circuit board were not making contact correctly. He explained that the problem would be worse when the set was cold, as it heated up the grounding points would make a better contact. That's why it seemed to occur everyday first thing in the morning. He took the back off, removed the circuit board and cleaned the contacts. When he put it back together he tightened the screws down fairly tight, explaining that the factory does not tighten them enough which is why I (we) have the problem in the first place. This took all of about 20 minutes. I have not had any problems since. If you live in San Diego, CA the company that fix'ed my Sharp is Advanced Electronic Service.
SOURCE: Power Supply Burnout
Apparently there was a problem with some of the capacitors in these models. Your capacitor definitely is popped.
I had the same problem. The fuse was okay, but
two capacitors were blown. One was at location C23 and I think the
other at C17. I took it to a local electronics shop and they replaced
and soldered the new capacitors on for me. It only cost $16.22. They
were a 3300 µF and a 1000 µF.

SOURCE: power supply bad on Sharp Aquos LC - bad board - schematic to ID?
Buy the green light going on means Standby is ok. Next, would be to locate the plug coming from the main board to the power supply and find the post that says PO which means power on. With your meter on that post, press the power button as see if the reading goes High, if it does then the main board is able to turn on the power supply. Next, find the plug on the power supply that goes to the inverter( the long board on the side) remove it and see if you have 24 volts coming out of the power supply when you press the power. If you do, then the inverter board is bad, if you don't have 24 v, then the power supply is bad. There are NO diagrams available for these set other than a flow chart if you can find one. A regular svc tech does'nt need a manual for these anyway.
Let me know how you do Kathy ?
SOURCE: sharp aquos model LC-32D40U screen goes black
The Sharp TV model LC32D40U / 41U "Black Screen problem" is a very well known issue. The inverter is losing ground contact which will prevent the back-light from staying on. The solution is to re-tighten six screws on the inverter board. You also would want to clean the copper contacts on then bottom of the inverter where the screws go through. Access to the inverter board will require some disassembly. Plan on taking at least three hours to repair. See the photo for the location of the screws. Use some "blue" locktight" on these six screws. There is actually a Sharp Technical Service Bulletin that describes these screws. Sharp wants you to replace these screws with a newer version. They cost at least $2.50 each! I think my method will work just as good using the "Locktight"
