A week ago we had a brown out then full power outage, since then out 53FDX20B 53 inch Hitachi will not turn on. Is there a simple fix as we do not have a repair shop near by and no way to get the TV delivered to a repair shop.
I have a Hitachi 53FDX20B. The power will not come on. I called in a Tech to repair the set. He removed the DP1X DEFLECTION PWB JK07112 and replaced the Voltage regulator str-f6629b location on the board Ip01 and the horzional output transitor C5681 location Q777 he also replaced the fuse FP05. The set played about 30 minutes after the tech left. I called him and he sad that the Fly Back was bad. I am going to replace all of the parts he replaced plus the fly back. I have ordered all of the parts but the PICO fuse located at FP05. It is light brown with a orange stripe and the numbers 3000. If you bought the parts from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com go back and ask for there help. It can be many things from bad soldering to blown resistors.
Remove the front screen and look directly into all three crt,s and see if the ethylene glycol has become contaminated or has leaked from any of the face of the tubes.
It powers up but no picture? In my experience with Hitachi TV's this has been an issue with the convergence IC's failing. You will need to have a technician replace those if needed.
I purchased mine from Circuit city back in spring of 2002 as a display model that they were no longer selling. So I would assume 2001 which would be almost 8 years old. Excellent tv!
