I have a Frigidaire fridge that we have tried three different new water filters, incl. a $50 Frigidaire filter, and none of them will latch in. The old filter will. Filter No. is 9999. Ideas?

This is a Frigidaire #253 French door fridge, and the filter No. is 9999. We are trying to install an OEM filter just bought at Lowes, as well as an off brand we used before from Amazon. Nothing latches except the old filter we're replacing. The new ones look identical to the one we're replacing.

Texas, sounds like your water reservoir is frozen up. Remove your 2 cripser drawers, you will see the reservoir behind them. Take a hair dryer and go over the tank and tubing ends. See if the water starts flowing. I find a lot of frozen water reservoirs on these french door models. They have a insulation kit for them. Catriver.

SOURCE: using without water filter

The effort it would take to eliminate filter would be too much. Just leave filter in place. If new house filter is working right you should never have to replace fridge filter and your water will be double-filtered :)

SOURCE: how to reset a maytag plus fridge

I have a Maytag Plus Refrigerator and the way to rest the water filter light is to simultaneosly hold down the "Light" and "Lock" pads until the "Change Filter" light blinks (approximately 3 seconds). This will reset the Change filter light for 12 months or for the number of gallon threshold for your filter.

SOURCE: Frigidaire Pure Source 2 water filter keeps popping out.

My parents frig had the same problem. The steel tabs that hold the filter in place are very small and frail. Heres what I did to solve the problem, at least temporarily. While firmly holding the filter release button, gently bend the tabs together using an extra long pair of curved needle nose pliers.

SOURCE: how can I change the water filter on a frigidaire fridge

Hi, The filter is in the upper right hand corner of the fresh food section. Turn the filter cup counter clockwise to remove it. There will be a filter cartridge in the cup that you replace.
Please let me know if this has been helpfull or if I can assist you further

Replaced Frigidaire Pure Source 2 filter and it keeps popping out after about 10 min or after about 5 glasses of Water. This is not the 1st time we have replaced the filter. Could it be just a Bad Filter?

There was a redesign in the Puresource 2 filters (FC100 WF2CBs) that introduced a very very slight mismatch on the latching mechanism used. I've compared them and it's about a 32nd of an inch off. In the back of the socket where the cartridge is you will see two metal clamps. If you push the filter eject button, you will see them manually open and close. That is the mechanism that is not working due to the difference in the redesign. It is a design flaw in the new filters.

I understand it has been corrected but in the mean time, there are a lot of bad ones out there. If it does have this flaw, I've never been able to get them to latch in and hold. My final solution was to build a new sliding lever that would lock over the front of water filter and hold it in place. It's very easy to do. You just need to make a latch.

We are goint to Drill a small ( slightly greather than 1/8") hole about 1" to the right of the filter centered in the middle of the filter vertically. With the filter out, It should be hollow on the right side of the filter and you can reach your fingers around the right side edge and feel where the whole will be. Mark an drill your hole. It's 1/8" thick plastic and is easy to drill. Using stainless steel bolt, nut and washers a 2" flat metal with a 1/8" whole, and tighten it down firm and build a swinging latch. Push the water filter in place and close the latch. If the waterfilter has any room to play, try devising a wedge to hold it in place (the washer will do that, I used a little stickon rubber foot). The latch has to put pressure on the filter cartidge. Now try the water watching it. If done right, the filter will be held in place, no leaks or exploding waterfilters.

If your listening Electrolux/Frigidaire the old design was 100 time superior to the new design. It would be nice to be able to purchase the old model even if it cost a little extra.

Frigidaire water filter stuck

We had the same issue. My husband unscrewed the filter cover (1 screw on the left side of the filter under the light flap). Then he pushed the old filter in & lifted it up and it came right out.

NO ICE OR WATER. WATER IS GOING TO THE REFRIG. SER: FRS26ZRFW3

First, shut off the water coming to the fridge at the wall. Now, disconnect the water connection from back of fridge and check to see if there is a clogged strainer or inline filter at or before the connection to the fridge. Check flow by holding the supply hose over an empty pitcher and turning the supply gently back on. If pressure and flow are adequate, turn the water off and reconnect the supply back to the back of the refrigerator.
Next, remove the water filter from the fridge, (it should be in the upper right corner of the fresh food compartment) examine it to determine whether it is plugged. If not, empty as much of it as you can out of the ports on the back by shaking it over the sink or taking it outside. Now, put the filter back in, close the door and check for water. If none comes out of the dispenser, remove the filter again and see if it filled back up with water. If not, the problem is likely the inlet valve, an electrically operated valve right where the water comes into the fridge. You have to unplug the refrigerator, disconnect the water lines at both ends, pull the wires (there are 2) off the spade connectors on the valve and reconnect a new one. They are about 50 bucks or so. I doubt the problem is with a dispensing switch as I think you would not be deprived of ice. The fact that both ice and water are out lead me to believe you have a clog or a bad inlet valve. Best of luck tracking this one down and let us know if it worked! Merry Christmas.

Changing water filter in Frigidaire fridge every 3 months

You should change out the water valve on your refrigerator. The filter shouldn't make any difference on the flow. We have parts and supplies for Electrolux, so call us with your model number and we'll be sure to get the correct water valve out to you right away!
