How to solve USB device not recognized ?

Every time I insert a USB device, it comes up with the message: USB device not recognized . Any solutions? I have absolutely no USB's in my slots. Thus I cannot insert anything in including to sync my mobile phone. I've already tried resetting the SMC which did not work.

Different USB port. There are usually 3 or 4 of them. If you can, format the USB drive (if you have nothing on it or already have copies of what is on it). It will take 10 seconds, but will wipe all data. It should be recognized then.

Are you dragging and dropping your files into the RECEIVED folder first? If not, you need to. From there, the phone should open up the files.

SOURCE: usb ports not recognized

Did this suddenly start to occur? Were they working before? If so, it is very simple - shut down computer, remove the battery and unplug any power source, wait a couple of minutes and reassemble and power up. Wala! I read all kinds of complicated instructions, started with the simple, and problem solved.

My Zoom H2 recorder is not recognized by my new computer with Windows 7. What can I do to solve this?

No solution, just a workaround. I have used the H2 with firmware 1.90 successfully with Windows 7, but lately the H2 is not recognized anymore. Built-in obsolescence maybe?
Anyway, I just take out the card and put it in a card reader. It is faster also. Card readers are cheap.

My noteoook got the problem with port usb

Since you have these many problems with your laptop, Firstly try to reformat the system and reinstall all the neccessary drivers. Many times reformatting works well as your OS might malfunction when you have virus or malwares in your laptop.

OTHER SOLUTIONS
a. for USB:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type Devmgmt.msc, and then click OK. The Device Manager window opens.
  2. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
  3. Right-click a USB Root Hub in the list, and then click Properties. The USB Root Hub Properties dialog box is displayed.
  4. Click the Power Management tab.
  5. Click to clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box, and then click OK.
  6. Repeat steps 3 through 6 for each USB Root Hub in the list.
  7. On the Action menu, click Scan for hardware changes.

Windows XP recognizes the new device.
  8. Close the Device Manager window.
b. SD CARD
Your 1GB kingston card might have virus. use a card reader and reformat the card for future use.

c. Uninstall and reinstall the driver of your finger scanner.

Hope this helps,

~regards,
