One of my DJ turntables = only left side stereo sound

Probably laptop power supply make some problem (ground noise). Disconnect laptop power supply and try to run your laptop on batteries.

if your using 1 turntable and no mixer check the wires on the cartridge might of mixed them up. if your a dj and your using a mixer max sure your mixers pan is not set to one side. also what kind of turntable. if you have any more questions feel free to meal me [email protected]

Clearly there IS a setup issue. Take serrato out of the loop for the moment and the mixer. Plug each deck (one at a time) into a hifi with a MM Phono input. Are you getting stereo? If yes, you know the decks are ok. Now reset the mixer completey. All eqs and pans including volumes to 12 o clock position and volumes to 0.
Make sure you connect deck one to a red and white of one phono input channel. Do not use 1 channel from phono and 1 from line. Use both left and right of the phono chanels.
Ok, now hook up the mixer to the amp. Keep the x-fader on channel 1 and concentrate getting a good stereo signal from this one chanel. Now do the same for the other cahnnel.

This should hae helped you to get up an running, if not narrow down the problem.

Since the mixer has a line level output, yes you can use a home stereo for the "AMP". Use the AUX IN, TAPE IN or CD IN on the stereo and connect the speakers as you normally would.

is it on mono? or stereo?

try it with nothing plugged in to the inputs, if there is no noise. most likely its the turntable, cd player, or whatever the input is is the problem. or try plugging the mixer into a different area of the house/room. its like if you were to put your cell phone by a mixer, or speakers.

If your turntables use ceramic cartridges, you'll need to use a passive interface box that converts the unbalanced ( RCA ) plugs from the turntable to balanced ( 1/4" T-R-S ) plugs to connect to your MPC1000's stereo line inputs. If your turntables have magnetic cartridges, you will need an active phone preamp, check the music retailers catalogs or on-line there are many makes and models.
If you want to mix the two turntables ( sequeing from one to the other and back continuously as in a DJ setup ), you'll need a small DJ mixer.

You didn't state if you purchased this used or new. If used, maybe the tonearm or the rca cables are bad. Or, if you set it up inccorectly.

Just to be sure...

TURNTABLE -> MIXER PHONO INPUT (CH1 or CH2) -> OUTPUT MIXER (MAIN OUT) -> STEREO INPUT (AUX IN or LINE IN).

Make sure you have the line selected properly on your receiver, and if you have a tape function, press the button in and out. Sometimes this will affect the sound. Now, check to see if your getting any signal to your mixer. Make sure the toggle switch on your mixer is set for PHONO and not LINE. Raise all volumes, including heapdhone, and see if you hear or see anything on the levels.

If all is good, but no signal going to mixer, then you might have a bad tonearm or RCA cables....

To check, disconnect the cartridge/headshell from your tonearm. Look inside the tonearm, and you'll see 4 gold plated prongs. Make sure they are all evenly protruding. Also make sure they are all a shiny. If you see any black substance on any of the prongs, they need to be cleaned. If any look like they are stuck, and not sticking out like the other ones, this would also cause an issue. This cannot be repaired. You can try to get the prong to come out, but if it does not work, you will have to replace the tonearm.

If everything with the tonearm looks good, then the issue might be the RCA cables. There is no easy way to check this, other than opening up the turntable. This is not easy, and I do not recommend.

Could be a bad patch cord, a setting on the mixer, a faulty mixer (unless it works ok with other amps), or a dirty control on the Sony amp if it has analog controls. Have you tried connecting other sources to the Sony?

it seems like u need ur audio leads and earth re-doin mate take it to a decent dj shop will cost u about 20 pound 4 both of them to be sorted
