Question about Simpson Washing Machines

My Simpson power washer with a Honda cg190 engine shimmied off a platform and bounced on its head down 2 steps. The washer will not start

Only visible damage is slight dent on the Honda cover plate at top of Power washer

There should either be a little button at the base of the headrest that you push, or a small hole in the rod part, with a hole in it. Push in the hole with a pen, or a small nail to release the headrest.

that is incorrect. if the oil has been over filled, it will saturate the filter element by way of the crankcase breather tube. it is the small plastic pipe that connects to the bottom of the filter housing. check the oil level. these machines take very little oil. approx 20 oz. if overfilled, it will leak out filter.

When you say it stalls is this fuel starvation or does it act like you shut off the ignition switch?
This should have the Honda GXC160 5.5 Hp engine on it. With the fuel selector off, have someone one remove the float bowl and check for debris in the very bottom of the float bowl. Also use come carb cleaner and spray into the main fuel jet located in the threaded are where the bowl nut screws into. The main fuel jet has a pin hole in it that must be free of obstructions.

Since this is a new unit you may just have some dried fuel in the fuel passages. With the float bowl off use a spray paint can lid and turn on the fuel selector. It should fill the lid in 8 - 10 seconds to the point you will shut off the fuel before it overflows. If you do not have this kind of fuel flow start looking at the main fuel line from the tank to the fuel selector. Check for a fuel filter and a debris bowl. I think the debris bowl is located directly under the fuel selector. It unscrews CCW for cleaning. Just clean it out and re-install same.

The last thing to check is to remove the main fuel line from the carb and check fuel flow. You should have good fuel flow with the fuel ine disconnected. If you do have good fuel flow here and you stilhave the stalling problem the float will have to be removed and the float needle will also have to be removed with the float. Once the float and float needle are removed spray carb cleaner into the float needle hole to force any debris back out the main fuel line connection.

Re-assemble everything... turn on the fuel... check for leaks and then start the unit. This should solve the stalling problem. If it presists... the pilot jet will need adjusted. This is absolutely the last resort repair because if you do anything to this screw you must replace the pilot valve screw and cover. It also mandates the use of loctite 638 on the tear drop shaped screw cap. (the old cap breaks off for pilot scre removal.) See check sheet below.

Easy way to deplete fuel in bowl is to shut off fuel while you are using pressure washer and are about to finish your work. Just run the engine till it quits. Difficult way is to remove nut under the bowl. You might also look into new products designed to pour into tank for storing your engine and a method to displace the water from the pump and infuse oil. Good luck with your unit/

How many ounces or quarts of oil do you put in the engine and what kind when changing the oil?


Power washer needs oil 2 places.

The pump head has a plastic window on side of pump. Oil should fill to middle of that window. Pump should have 20 or 30 weight NON detergent oil. SAE20 SAE 30 I believe. Auto parts store will know which is NON detergent.

The engine oil is ordinary 10W30. We used to change oil after each painting season by tilting engine to the side. Do not turn engine on it's side or upside down or oil will run into carburetor.

I don't remember exactly how many quarts we put back. Maybe 2? Fill up reservoir until oil is about half-way up dip stick.
