SOURCE: Canon A95 "Change Batteries" problem!
Yes, my A95 in 3 years old and it suddenly started doing the same thing. The strange thing is that if you switch to picture review mode (instead of taking a picture) the batteries appear to last for ages... even though it's the LCD that's supposed to consume the most energy! If the battery level sensor didn't switch the camera off I think it would be fine.

clean the connectors internally to which the battery connects.if they r dirty this can happen.or if that connectors get loose or little bit bent they cannot connect the battery properly and this happens.

u have a shorted power board.i had same problem when mine got wet. likley not repairable.

Did you figure this out? I would send it back asap so your warranty can cover the problem. Also run over to Ritz camera or another camera store to figure if they can help. Ask for their Canon expert. I hope this helps.
